Hero Xoom, Honda Dio sales November 2024

The calendar year is about to draw to a close and here’s the monthly sales performance for the largest six two-wheeler manufacturers in November 2024.

Hero: 4,39,777 units

While Hero has retained its position at the top of the pile, the gap to Honda is less than 7,000 units. And compared to its gargantuan sales tally for October 2024 (6,57,403 units), Hero reported a substantial 33.10 percent decline, although with the festive season rush now waning, this was to be expected. Hero also reported a 7.67 percent decrease compared to its November 2023 sales figure (4,76,286 units). The brand made a big splash at EICMA this year and it is also working on a new model, the Mavrick 440 Scrambler.

Honda: 4,32,888 units

Close on Hero’s heels is long-standing number 2 in India, Honda. While it has chased down the number 1 and closed the gap quite a bit, Honda did report a 21.74 percent decline compared to its October 2024 sales of 5,53,120 units, and its MoM decline was much smaller than its chief rival. But, compared to the 4,20,677 units it sold in November 2023, it reported a 2.90 percent increase. Honda recently forayed into the EV space with two new scooters.

TVS: 3,05,323 units

TVS has retained its number 3 spot in a sort of no-man’s land; while it is over a lakh units behind Honda, TVS is also more than a lakh units ahead of Bajaj. Even so, it reported a 19.25 percent decrease compared to its October 2024 sales tally of 3,90,489 units. Contrastingly, it reported a 6.38 percent increase compared to its sales for November last year, which stood at 2,87,017 units. It bears mentioning that these sales numbers do not include those of the iQube electric scooter, which is the second best-selling EV in India.

Bajaj: 2,03,611 units

Just like TVS, Bajaj has also retained its long-standing number 4 spot, and while it too is far ahead of Suzuki, it has quite some ground to cover to catch up to TVS. Bajaj reported a 20.43 percent decline compared to its October 2024 sales (2,55,909 units) as well as a 6.86 percent decrease compared to its November 2023 figure of 2,18,597 units. It bears mentioning that Bajaj’s sales numbers include those of the Chetak e-scooter lineup. The Chetak recently crossed the 3 lakh unit milestone.

Suzuki: 78,333 units

Compared to the 1,04,940 units Suzuki sold in October 2024, the Japanese brand reported a 25.35 percent decrease. But in comparison to its November 2023 tally of 73,135 units, it reported a 7.10 percent increase. Suzuki recently showed two motorcycles overseas, both of which are powered by a new 398cc motor.

Royal Enfield: 72,236 units

The dominant force in the midsize premium bike category reported a 10.77 percent decrease compared to its October 2024 sales of 80,958 units. Even when compared to its November 2023 sales number of 75,137 units, Royal Enfield reported a 3.86 percent decline. 2024 was an extremely busy year for Royal Enfield, with 5 launches - Guerrilla 450, Shotgun 650, Bear 650, the updated Classic 350 and Goan Classic 350. The company also debuted the Classic 650 Twin and Scram 440, both of which will launch in January next year. And to top it all off, Royal Enfield also set up its EV subsidiary, Flying Flea.
