Hyundai India offers its Verna sedan in six variants: EX, S, S(O), SX, SX+ and SX(O)These mainly differ in terms of engine and gearbox options, as well as on-board equipment. Notably, the EX, S and SX+ trims are sold solely with a naturally aspirated petrol engine, while the S(O) variant gets a turbo-petrol motor. Whereas, the SX and SX(O) variants come with both engine options.

The Hyundai Verna stands out among the Japanese and German competitors with both naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engine options. These include a 115hp/ 144Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 160hp/ 253Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, with the Verna turbo models getting a 7-speed dual-clutch auto and the naturally aspirated trims a CVT. Verna does not have a diesel or CNG powertrain on offer.

What features does the Hyundai Verna get?

The Verna’s exterior gets LED headlights with cornering function, DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels (15-inchers are standard), and a rear spoiler. Inside, there is a 10.25-inch duo of a driver’s display and a touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on which can be made wireless with an adapter. Other features include an 8-speaker Bose sound system, front ventilated and heated seats upholstered in leatherette, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, sunroof, wireless charger, ambient lights, air purifier and a rear manual curtain.

Safety

Like all other Hyundai models in India, the Verna comes with six airbags as standard. There’s a Level 2 ADAS suite, ABS with EBD, front parking sensors, all-four disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, 3-point seatbelts on all seats and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. The Hyundai sedan also boasts a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP.

When will the Verna facelift launch?

The facelifted Hyundai Verna is set to launch next year, though an exact timeline is unclear. The 2026 Verna facelift was recently spied testing on our roads, and it is expected come with minor cosmetic changes and new features.
