The Tata Sierra, launched at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 11.49 lakh, is a midsize SUV that slots between the Tata Curvv SUV-coupe and the larger Harrier SUV. Not only does the Sierra revive an iconic Tata Motors nameplate, but it also debuts some new offerings from the brand. Here’s a full list of what Tata Motors has introduced with the Sierra.
Two new petrol engines
Debuts a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and a turbocharged petrol engine
The Tata Sierra debuts two 1.5-litre petrol engines for the brand. There’s a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that produces 106hp and 145Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The other one is a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill that puts out 160hp and 255Nm, available only with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This turbo-petrol engine was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 but with a slightly higher 170hp/280Nm tuning; it will also be introduced in the Harrier and Safari on December 9. The Sierra is also available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which is also offered with the Curvv but produces 20Nm more torque in the Sierra.
New ARGOS platform
The new platform can accommodate AWD, as well as CNG and hybrid powertrains
Tata says that the 2025 Sierra is built on the new ARGOS platform, an acronym for All-terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable Architecture. This platform can accommodate multiple powertrain options, including CNG and hybrid, and is compatible with all-wheel drive (AWD). For now, the Sierra comes only in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup.
Triple-screen layout on dashboard
Features two 12.3-inch screens and a 10.25-inch driver’s display

The Sierra is the first Tata offering to feature a triple-screen setup. It includes a 10.25-inch driver’s display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a similarly sized display for the front passenger. Notably, content can be synchronised between the two 12.3-inch screens, which is supposed to offer an enhanced entertainment experience.
Augmented reality-based head-up display
First mass-market ICE car in India to get such a feature

Augmented reality-based head-up display (HUD), seen on models such as the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e, has also made its way to the Tata Sierra, making it the first mass-market ICE-powered car and also the first Tata car to feature this technology. While rivals like the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Victoris also offer an HUD, it is not an AR-based system like the Sierra’s.
The difference between a regular HUD and an AR-based unit is that the latter overlays information directly onto the windscreen in real time, displaying elements such as navigation arrows and warning signs as if they were marked on the road. On the other hand, a regular HUD uses another screen in front of the dashboard to relay essential information, making it slightly less intuitive than an AR-based unit.
Notably, the AR-based HUD is offered only with the Sierra’s one-below-top Accomplished trim, which comes with a dual-screen setup. The higher-spec Accomplished+ variants feature a 3-screen setup without an HUD.
Thigh support extenders for front passengers
Only car in the segment to get such a feature

A small but impactful feature that the Sierra debuts for Tata Motors is an extendable thigh support for the driver and the front passenger, expected to enhance comfort, especially on long drives. The Sierra is also the only midsize SUV to offer it. Notably, the Citroen Basalt also provides a similar extendable under-thigh support, but unlike the Sierra, it is only on the rear bench seat.
