As the festive season begins, demand for a new vehicle always sees an uptick in our country, which is why nearly all of the six heavy hitters in the two-wheeler industry have recorded positive growth. Here’s how each manufacturer performed.
Hero: 5,19,139 units
While Hero and Honda have jostled for the number one position in recent times, festive fervour in rural India has helped the former clinch the top spot. Selling over 5 lakh units last month, it reported a big 25.90 percent increase in comparison to July 2025, when it sold 4,12,397 units. Even in comparison to its August 2024 sales figure (4,92,263 units), Hero reported an uptick of 5.46 percent. We have seen a flurry of new products in the form of the new Glamour X, the rather silent introduction of the Xtreme 125R single-seat and the long-awaited Xoom 160, whose deliveries will begin this month as well.
Honda: 4,81,021 units
Honda had to settle for second place last month, but even so, it reported a small 3.15 percent increase in comparison to July 2025 (4,66,331 units). However, it reported a tiny 2.17 percent decline when compared to its numbers for August 2024 (4,91,678 units). Honda has bolstered its commuter bike portfolio with the Shine 100 DX and the all-new CB125 Hornet recently, both of which should help bring in added volumes in the coming months.
TVS: 3,68,862 units
TVS had an exceptionally good month last time around, and it reported a healthy 19.48 percent increase in comparison to its July 2025 sales tally of 3,08,720 units. When compared to previous August (2,89,073 units), the Hosur-based company reported a substantial 27.60 percent increase.
It bears mentioning that this figure doesn’t include the sales of TVS’ electric vehicles, which include the iQube (India’s bestselling electric scooter five months in a row), the new budget-friendly Orbiter and the wild-looking (and pricey) X. TVS is gearing up to launch the brand-new Ntorq 150 tomorrow and its first-ever adventure bike, the Apache RTX 300, is launching in the coming months.
Bajaj: 1,84,109 units
Bajaj has managed to turn around its fortunes in the domestic market on the back of festive season demand; it has recorded a healthy 32.19 percent increase compared to July 2025 (1,39,279 units). That being said, it did report a 11.75 percent decline compared to August 2024 (2,08,621 units). It bears mentioning that these numbers include those of the Chetak electric scooter line-up, which is consistently one of the bestselling scooters in our country.
Royal Enfield: 1,02,876
Royal Enfield had a stellar August with sales of over 1 lakh units, and in the process, it recorded a big 34.91 percent increase compared to July 2025 (76,254 units). The company also reported a huge 56.77 percent increase in comparison to August 2024 (65,624 units).
Royal Enfield recently updated the Hunter 350 with some small but crucial improvements and is in the process of readying its new 750cc engine that will underpin a cafe racer and an adventure tourer – both of which have been spotted testing previously.
Suzuki: 91,629 units
Amongst the top six in this story, Suzuki was the only one to post a decline compared to July 2025 (96,029 units), which amounted to 4.58 percent. Despite that, it did report a small 4.74 percent increase compared to its August 2024 sales tally of 87,480 units. Suzuki is looking to throw its hat into the electric two-wheeler arena soon with its brand-new and rather delayed e-Access that we sampled over three months back.
