Last month, Honda took the wraps off its first 125cc sporty commuter, the CB125 Hornet, but held back on the price. Now, the company has officially launched it at Rs 1.12 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, Gurugram).

Honda CB125 shares its engine with the SP125

Produces 0.3hp and 0.2Nm more 

At its core, the CB125 Hornet shares its 123.94cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with the SP 125 and Shine 125. But here, it’s tuned for a livelier output of 11.1hp and 11.2Nm – marking a small bump of over 0.3hp and 0.2Nm. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed transmission.

One of the CB125 Hornet’s highlights is its golden USD fork – a segment-first – coupled with a preload-adjustable monoshock. Stopping power comes from a 240mm front disc with single-channel ABS and a rear drum brake. The bike rolls on 17-inch wheels fitted with 80/100-17 tyres up front and 110/80-17 at the rear. Tipping the scales at 124kg (kerb), it’s among the lightest in its class, though notably heavier than both the SP 125 (by over 7kg) and the Shine 125 (by 11kg).

The CB125 Hornet shares its 4.2-inch TFT display with the Hornet 2.0, and it comes with Bluetooth connectivity through Honda’s RoadSync app. This enables features such as music playback info, call and message notifications, and turn-by-turn navigation. The bike also gets full LED lighting, including a uniquely styled LED headlight.

Available in Red, Fluorescent Yellow, Blue and Black, the Hornet 125 gets colour-matched alloy wheels for added flair. Priced at Rs 1.12 lakh, its key rivals include the TVS Raider 125, Hero Xtreme 125R and Bajaj Pulsar N125. Deliveries for the CB125 Hornet will commence from mid-August 2025 in a phased manner.
