I am planning to buy the MG Hector Plus 7-seater. Is it advisable to buy one?

The MG Hector Plus is a competent three-row SUV, so it's definitely worth considering. It stands out for its comfy ride quality, spacious cabin and lengthy features list.
The Hector Plus can be had with either a 2.0-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, with the latter also coming with a CVT automatic gearbox option. Prices for the MG Hector Plus 7 seater range from Rs 16.75 lakh to Rs 21.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

Looking to buy a vehicle for city use with a daily running of 40-50 km and a budget below 20 lakhs. My top priority is back seat comfort, as it will be chauffeur-driven since my wife doesn’t drive. Vehicle safety is also a top priority. I am open to any body style. Kindly suggest.

The MG Hector is a great pick if rear seat comfort is your top priority. It has a very spacious and airy cabin, and rear seat comfort is good too. What also strengthens Hector's case is that ride comfort at low city speeds is plush. The Hector petrol makes sense given that you aren’t looking for a vehicle for city driving. Do bear in mind that the Hector petrol's fuel economy is poor.

There are also other options that deliver a good rear seat experience. Our top picks include the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV700, Honda City and Kia Carens Clavis.
You could also wait for the Tata Sierra, which could be a comfortable option worth considering.

I want to purchase the MG Hector Sharp Pro top-model manual petrol, as I require a big luggage space. Please suggest the pros and cons of this car.

The MG Hector is a tech-laden, large and spacious SUV. It has a voluminous 587-litre boot, so luggage space won't be an issue, and what's nice is that it can even be had with a third row of seats in the form of the Hector Plus.
This MG car stands out for its spacious and comfortable cabin, lengthy features list and absorbent low-speed ride. As for cons, it's not engaging to drive, and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol CVT is thirsty, returning just 8.3kpl in the city and 9.6kpl on the highway in our fuel efficiency tests.

We are a retired couple looking to buy a new SUV that is safe and offers a very comfortable back seat. Our daily commute is around 35 km a day. Our budget is ₹25 lakh. Kindly suggest some choices for us. Thank you.

Given your requirement for good rear seat comfort, you could consider the MG Hector. It is a spacious SUV and scores well on rear seat comfort. However, fuel economy on the petrol version is poor.
Other options worth looking at include the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

I’m looking for an SUV in which I’ll mostly be chauffeured but will occasionally drive myself. My budget is around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom). I don’t prefer MPVs, though I can consider the Innova Crysta.

Unfortunately, the Toyota Innova Crysta will exceed your ₹20 lakh budget. However, there are several SUVs you can consider.
The Hyundai Creta is a great option with a spacious and comfortable back seat, great ride quality, and good features. However, if you don't mind settling for fewer features or increasing your budget slightly, the MG Hector is a great option as a chauffeur driven car, and decent to drive too.

I have shortlisted the XUV700 diesel automatic and MG Hector petrol automatic (since MG doesn’t offer a diesel automatic) because both have a flat second-row floor. Does the Tata Sierra also have a flat second-row floor? Which SUV would you recommend between the XUV700 and the MG Hector?

Yes, the Tata Sierra does have a relatively flat floor in the rear seat, with only a small riser, as it is a front-wheel-drive SUV with no AWD version as of now, and therefore does not need a transmission tunnel passing through the car. The front centre console with the rear AC vents and USB ports does stick out quite a bit though.
Between the XUV700 and the MG Hector, the MG has a softer, more comfortable ride for rear-seat passengers, since you have inquired about rear-seat space.
However, it does not offer a diesel automatic, so you would need to opt for the petrol CVT, which is not very fuel-efficient. The Mahindra XUV700 is still quite comfortable and does offer petrol and diesel engines with auto gearboxes.

I am planning to buy an SUV. How is the MG Hector?

The MG Hector is currently offered with two engine options - a 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel. What’s nice is that it can even be had with a third row of seats (Hector Plus).
Sure, it isn’t the most engaging SUV to drive, and the turbo-petrol engine can be thirsty. But if you’re looking for a refined SUV that’s big in size, big on features, and offers a comfortable and spacious cabin, the MG Hector is hard to beat.

Hi, Hitesh Shah here from Mumbai. I want to buy my first car and I love the MG Hector Plus. Can I go ahead with it? My running is about 500 km per month.

The MG Hector Plus offers great value for money, especially considering its size at this price. The first two rows are extremely spacious. The third row, however, is best suited for short city trips, ideal for kids or shorter adults.

If you’re looking for a more versatile 7-seater, you could also consider the Kia Carens Clavis, which comes at a similar price. Kia Carens Clavis price starts with ₹13.12 lakh (on-road) for the base model in Mumbai.

I'm 6'4" tall. While most budget cars fit me in the driver's seat, none of them are comfortable for long time spent in the seat. The main issue is thigh support. Can you recommend a car that has a good ergonomic design for tall people? My budget is tight and can stretch to 25L. I sat in the Skoda Kodiaq with a seat extension. Loved it. So comfortable. But cannot afford a 50L car and bear the low mileage petrol costs.

You might consider the Mahindra XUV700 and the MG Hector as potential options. Both vehicles offer broad and supportive front seats, which could enhance comfort during long drives.

Opting for a lower variant without a sunroof may provide additional headroom, which could be beneficial given your height.
