Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara FAQs
The Maruti Grand Vitara’s starting price of Rs 10.77 lakh makes it more affordable than popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos. Its top-end price of Rs 19.62 lakh is more affordable than the Creta, Seltos, Sierra, Hyryder and Victoris.
The Maruti Grand Vitara is a well-rounded SUV with a modern exterior and interior design, a decent feature suite with likeable comfort and convenience features, and two engine options, one with an AWD setup and another being a fuel-efficient hybrid mill, currently exclusive to Maruti-Toyota models. At its price, while it lacks a bit on engine performance, it still offers a lot of value.
The Grand Vitara hybrid is around Rs 2.9 lakh more expensive than equivalent petrol variants.
The Grand Vitara CNG is Rs 90,000 pricier than the equivalent petrol variant.
Questions you may find useful
Hi Autocar Team, I own a Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara AT (non-hybrid) and spend around Rs. 12,000-14,000 per month on petrol. Its city mileage has dropped from around 13 kmpl to 10 kmpl. I also have solar panels at home, so EV charging would be almost free or cost a maximum of Rs. 3-4 per unit. I am confused about whether I should replace the Grand Vitara with an EV or keep it and buy a Tata Tiago EV for daily city use. Am I thinking too much about fuel savings? Should I simply keep the Grand Vitara and avoid buying a second car altogether? I would like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation. What makes more financial sense in the long run?
You are not overthinking it. With solar at home and a monthly fuel spend of Rs 12-14k, switching to an EV makes strong financial sense. The question is whether to replace the Grand Vitara or add a Tiago EV as a second car.If your usage is predominantly city-based, replacing the Grand Vitara with an EV is the better solution. You eliminate fuel costs almost entirely, simplify ownership and make full use of your solar setup. If you have the budget for it, EVs like the Kia Syros EV, Hyundai Creta Electric or Kia Carens Clavis EV are a good mix of price to range. Or if you can budget for it, move a step up to the Mahindra XEV 9S, Tata Sierra EV or MG Tomahawk EV.Adding a Tiago EV as a second car only makes sense if you have a genuine need for two cars. The Tiago EV is a great city runabout, but keeping the Grand Vitara just for occasional use while continuing to pay insurance, maintenance and depreciation does not make financial sense unless you regularly need a second car.If you are happy with the Grand Vitara and do not want to change cars, that is also a perfectly valid decision. But from a purely financial perspective, with your fuel spend and solar setup, switching to an electric car is the smarter long-term move.
The new Duster could make things interesting in the SUV segment. Would you consider it over the Grand Vitara or Hyryder?
Hi, I have a budget of around Rs 15 lakh. I drive around 180km a week. For two days, I would have to drive on highways for around 80km, while the rest of my driving is a mix of city and local needs. I am a bit confused between the automatic Brezza ZXi and the automatic Grand Vitara Delta. Both have a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. Could you please suggest?
With around 180km a week, including regular highway use, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara makes more sense if the price difference is manageable. Both use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a six speed torque converter automatic, so performance is broadly similar. This Maruti Suzuki car is the larger car, with a longer wheelbase, more rear legroom and a larger 373-litre boot. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi AT does have advantages. It is more compact, easier to manoeuvre and park, and its 328-litre boot is still adequate. If most of your driving were urban and you wanted a more convenient, compact SUV, the Brezza would be the sensible choice. However, with two 80km highway runs every week, the Grand Vitara's additional cabin space and longer wheelbase make it better suited to your usage. Its 1.5-litre engine is not particularly powerful, so neither should be chosen for outright performance, but it is adequate for relaxed highway cruising.
Hi, I am looking to buy either Syros EV or a hybrid car. My usage is around 65 km run in heavy traffic zone between Delhi and Gurgaon almost 3 times a week on weekdays and local city driving on weekends. Once in 4-5 months, I plan intercity trips. Please tell whether Syros EV or Maruti Grand Vitara makes sense. I do have an independent house so I can set up home charging. However, I am also concerned on what should be done if EV breaks down considering current facilities and how quick is the road side assistance for EV. Finally, I want to go ahead with company leasing due to which I will be the second owner and have to buyback after 3 years. Please suggest.
Go for the Kia Syros EV. With your usage pattern of 65 km runs in heavy traffic three times a week, plus local city driving on weekends, the Syros EV makes far more sense than the Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid. You have a predictable, high-frequency commute and the ability to install a home charger, which is exactly the scenario where an EV delivers maximum benefit. The Syros EV is a well-rounded package with a comfortable ride, spacious cabin and a premium feel, and it will handle your daily runs effortlessly while keeping running costs low.On the question of breakdowns and roadside assistance, Kia offers a robust support network and dedicated EV roadside assistance. In the event of a breakdown, the response time is generally comparable to that of an ICE car, and Kia can arrange for the car to be towed to the nearest service centre if required. The Syros EV also comes with an 8-year battery warranty, which covers the most expensive component of the car and provides peace of mind over the ownership period. The company lease arrangement with a buyback after three years further strengthens the case for the Syros EV. You are not exposed to long-term depreciation risk, and you get the benefit of lower running costs and a modern EV ownership experience without worrying about long-term battery degradation.
