Exterior Design And Engineering

8.0

Design-wise, the 2025 M340i builds on the 2024 facelift, retaining the aggressive bumper, LED headlamps with twin-inverted L-shaped DRLs, and honeycomb grille elements. New Arctic Race Blue paint and blacked-out alloy wheels with red brake calipers are the only visual updates, helping it stand out while keeping the familiar sporty stance intact.

Interior Space And Comfort

7.0

Cabin changes are limited to a new flat-bottomed steering wheel with a red 12 o’clock marker and revised central air vents that feel a bit flimsy. The touchscreen now runs updated software but still feels cluttered. Though climate buttons are gone, temperature controls are easily accessible on-screen.
Sporty front seats with adjustable bolstering and Alcantara trim give the cabin a proper performance feel. Rear seat space is on par with the standard 3 Series but trails the long-wheelbase version. The 480-litre boot, along with a space-saver spare tyre, adds practicality.

Performance And Refinement

10.0

Its 3.0-litre straight-six turbo petrol (B58) continues with 374hp and 500Nm, paired to a quick and intuitive 8-speed torque converter automatic. In Sport mode, the exhaust note (partially synthesised) adds drama, with real-world figures showing 0–100kph in just 4.39 seconds. The transmission is smooth, responsive, and complements spirited driving perfectly.

Mileage / Range And Efficiency

6.0

Fuel economy, aided by a 48V mild-hybrid system, is claimed at 13.02kpl. However, expect single-digit figures in the city, with double digits achievable only on relaxed highway runs.

Ride Comfort And Handling

9.0

The new Adaptive M Suspension is a game-changer. In Comfort mode, the ride is more pliant than before, making it better for daily commutes. In Sport mode, it firms up to deliver sharp handling and precise steering. The switch to 19-inch wheels enhances looks but increases the risk of sidewall damage over rough roads.

Features And Safety

7.0

The M340i packs in plenty: xDrive AWD, launch control, drive modes, paddle shifters, sport exhaust, HUD, 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. However, it still lacks ventilated seats and ADAS features—noticeable omissions in this price bracket.

Value For Money

9.0

Priced at Rs 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the M340i is about Rs 6 lakh more than the previous version. However, the improved comfort and retained driving thrills make it worth the premium. With explosive performance, solid equipment, and added practicality, this updated M340i hits the sweet spot for those seeking an everyday performance sedan under Rs 1 crore.

I am planning to buy my first luxury car and am considering the BMW 3 Series M Sport Pro, which is available for Rs. 70 lakh on-road. Is this a good deal? Also, is its ground clearance too low for long-distance or cross-country road trips?

Verified

The BMW 3 Series M Sport Pro at Rs. 70 lakh on-road is a reasonable deal, though not an outright bargain. It remains one of the most engaging luxury sedans to drive, thanks to its strong performance, well-balanced chassis, and genuinely premium cabin. For a first luxury car, it is a very satisfying choice. As for ground clearance, the version sold in India is capable of clearing most speed breakers and potholes without scraping. In fact, it is well-suited to cross-country trips as well. With sensible driving and a bit of care, it can handle most highways and rural roads with ease.

I want to buy a car in the Rs. 60 lakh to Rs. 70 lakh range. An SUV seems like the more practical choice, but there aren't many exciting options from BMW or Mercedes-Benz in this budget. Sedans like the BMW 3 Series are available, but I am concerned about their low ground clearance, especially since the roads in my area are not in great condition and waterlogging is a common issue. Toyota appeals because of its reliability, but I don't find the interiors very appealing. As for Skoda and Volkswagen, I am not very confident about their after-sales service. Would the BMW 3 Series still be comfortable and practical to own on bad roads and during waterlogged conditions? Above all, I want complete peace of mind after the purchase.

Within a budget of Rs. 70 lakh, the BMW 3 Series is one of the best choices. However, if ground clearance is a concern, an SUV would be the more practical option. Equivalent SUVs such as the BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC will require stretching the budget by another Rs. 10-15 lakh. Otherwise, the alternatives will have to come from a segment below.Since comfort is a priority, it would be worth waiting for the upcoming BMW X1 Long Wheelbase, which is set to launch on 21 August. As it will be assembled in India, pricing is expected to remain competitive and within your budget. The Audi Q3 and Q3 Sportback are also worth considering. They offer a refined petrol engine, smooth performance, and a high-quality cabin. Their only drawback is that they are not the most modern in terms of features. With the new-generation Q3 expected to arrive soon, attractive discounts on the current models are also likely.

My budget is Rs. 70-80 lakh. My preferences are luxury and performance. Which vehicle should I buy between the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

Verified
37w

If you are going to be behind the wheel more often, the BMW M340i is excellent and has a decent rear seat for occasional chauffeur-driven drives too. However, if you want a better rear-seat experience, the BMW 330Li is very good too compared to the Mercedes-Benz car. It is almost as good as the M340i, but thanks to the long wheelbase, it gets a spacious and comfy rear seat as well. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers a more luxurious interior, but the driving experience is much better in the BMW.

My budget is ₹70-80 lakh and my preferences are luxury and performance. Which vehicle should I buy - the BMW 3 Series or the Mercedes-Benz C-Class?

Verified

The BMW 3 Series in its 330Li guise offers a fantastic balance of luxury and performance as compared to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The long-wheelbase aids more room in the rear seat, the quality of materials is good, and the performance is excellent. If you are a keen driver, the 330Li will impress you, but if you also want to be chauffeured in the back seat, it can do that too.

Is a brand-new 2025-manufactured Audi A6 Technology variant a decent buy at Rs. 56 lakh all-inclusive on-road today? The dealer is clearing stock, so the vehicle has not been used, driven, or registered. The included registration cost is for BH. My expected running is around 10,000 km per year, with 70-80% of it on highways, usually with a family of four, including me. One more consideration is that the updated A6 is already available in the international market, and it might arrive in India in another 18 months or so. Are there any other better options if this is not a good buy?

Verified

Yes, a brand-new 2025-manufactured Audi A6 Technology at Rs 56 lakh on-road (BH) is a good deal, but try knocking off a couple more lakhs. The A6 is a well-rounded luxury sedan in the segment, offering a refined petrol engine, excellent ride comfort and a genuinely premium cabin experience. At this price, you are getting a significant discount over the usual on-road price, which makes it a strong value proposition.Your usage pattern of 10,000 km a year with 70-80% highway driving with a family of four suits the A6 very well. The car is comfortable, stable at speed and has enough space for long family trips. The fact that it is a 2025-manufactured, unregistered car means you are not compromising on age or warranty either.Alternatives at a similar price point would belong to a lower segment, such as the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. However, neither is likely to be available at this level of discount.Overall, at Rs 56 lakh on-road, the A6 Technology is a strong buy.
