2025 marks 100 years since the Rolls-Royce Phantom was first introduced, and the British ultra-luxury carmaker plans to commemorate the occasion with a soon-to-be-unveiled special edition. This celebratory version of the Phantom will notably sport a bespoke interior that incorporates several new techniques for Rolls-Royce, along with the familiar 571hp, 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 under the hood.

According to Phil Fabre de la Grange, general manager of Rolls-Royce Bespoke, the interior of the upcoming Phantom centenary edition will feature “ground-breaking” woodworking processes that are the “most intricate” in the carmaker’s history.

Development process took a year, along with special staff training.

The aforementioned techniques combine 3D marquetry, 3D ink layering and 24-carat gold leafing within a single surface. This is claimed to “push materials to the limits of their natural tolerance”, turning interior panels into a “stunning, tactile sculpture”. Interestingly, Rolls-Royce staff had to undergo special training as part of a one-year development cycle for these techniques.

It remains to be seen what this unique interior looks like in execution, but de la Grange contends that it unlocks “remarkable new possibilities” for Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke division, hinting at the novel woodworking techniques being available for buyers to opt for in the future.
