Renault has announced a new Bridger Concept, which seems to be the brand’s take on a rugged-looking sub-4m SUV, likely to be positioned beside the Kiger in India. While the concept will be fully revealed on March 10, the carmaker has confirmed that the production-spec Bridger SUV will be designed and developed in India.

Teasers show a boxy silhouette and tailgate-mounted spare wheel
The teasers of the Bridger Concept have revealed its boxy silhouette and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, both reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender. However, Renault has confirmed that the upcoming ‘urban’ SUV will measure less than 4 metres in length but will not ‘compromise on space’. A teaser video also shows illuminated Renault lettering, likely to be a part of the fascia, similar to the international-spec Renault Duster.
In January, we reported that Renault is working on a mini Duster with sub-4m proportions, likely to debut in India by 2028, which could be the production version of the Bridger concept.
Likely to borrow the Kiger’s 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill
As for the powertrain, it will likely borrow the Kiger’s 100hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with both manual and CVT options. Hence, it is expected to be positioned alongside the Kiger in Renault’s line-up.
Could take the ‘Bridger’ name into production
Talking about the new concept’s name, Sylvia dos Santos, Renault’s head of naming strategy, explained, “This one comes from the word ‘bridge’, with the letters ‘ER’ added for identification. The name Renault Bridger is part of the same approach as the name of Renault Duster,” adding that the name “opens a new page in our international offensive”.
