Nissan Urban SUV Terrano PHEV concepts

Nissan has pulled the covers off a pair of new plug-in hybrid SUV concepts, namely the Urban SUV and the Terrano. They were unveiled at Beijing Auto Show 2026, and signal Nissan’s accelerated offensive of electrified vehicles for the Chinese market. Notably, the Terrano nameplate was used by Nissan India for a Duster-based midsize SUV sold from 2013 to 2020.

As the name suggests, the Urban SUV Concept previews a city-centric crossover and is cloaked in a striking mauve finish. The front-end sports a split-headlight setup with sleek L-shaped DRL signatures and an illuminated Nissan emblem. Below, it gets air curtains in the bumper, decked out in black trim and flanked by discreet intakes.

The Urban SUV Concept’s side profile features blacked-out pillars, a blacked-out roof, subtle body cladding, cameras instead of ORVMs, and a raked roofline. At the back, the highlight is a connected tail-lamp setup that appears to be integrated into the tailgate, with an illuminated Nissan wordmark in the centre. Up top, there’s a dual-fin roof spoiler, and below sits a neat, smartly-styled bumper.

The Terrano Concept is a dramatic departure from the Indian midsize SUV it shares its name with the reborn Terrano is a burly, boxy off-roader. Up front, it has a rectangular, segmented LED headlight setup, spaced-out Nissan lettering, muscular bumper, fender-mounted driving lights, and bonnet scoop.

Over to the side, the Terrano Concept prominently sports a large roof rack with driving lights and a ladder on the right side, kinked window line, generous and squared-off cladding, and chunky off-road tyres. The rear end gets a tailgate-mounted spare wheel secured by a large beam, as well as four small LED tail-lamps and a muscular bumper.

While both of these concepts are equipped with PHEV powertrains, Nissan has not specified details for the same. However, the Japanese carmaker has confirmed that it will introduce their production version within a year from now.
