Mercedes-Benz has pulled the covers off the Vision V concept ahead of its upcoming debut at Auto Shanghai 2025. Built on Mercedes-Benz’s new Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA), the Vision V concept previews the next-gen V-Class and a line-up of new all-electric MPVs from the German carmaker. In India, the current-gen V-Class was launched in 2019 but was discontinued in 2022.

Closed-off grille and Mercedes-Benz logo are illuminated

Considering it is a van, the Vision V concept’s silhouette is unsurprisingly large and boxy but more flamboyant than 2019's Concept EQV all-electric MPV. Up front, a sleek connected LED headlight setup takes prominence, with a standing illuminated Mercedes-Benz star motif above it. Underneath, there’s a huge closed-off grille with an illuminated border and slats flanked by chrome-lined air intakes on both ends.
Rear end framed with a massive square lightbar

The side profile features regular front doors, sliding rear doors and large aero-optimised 5-spoke alloy wheels with embedded lights. At the rear, the tail-lamp setup comprises a massive square LED strip that runs through the roof’s trailing edge and the lower end of the tailgate, with the centre panel entirely made of glass. There’s ‘Vision V’ lettering in the centre of the tailgate.

Massive Superscreen setup dominates all-white dashboard

The Vision V concept’s striking and tech-laden 4-seat interior is in contrast to its minimalistic exterior. It gets tube-cushioned seats and an all-white dashboard, which houses a Superscreen with three displays spanning its width and the air-con vents.
The van gets a white 3-spoke steering wheel, and there’s no centre console beneath the dashboard, indicating that all the controls have been folded into the infotainment system. It has transparent door pockets and a centre armrest lined with ambient lighting.
Second row is an ultra-luxurious private lounge

Mercedes-Benz has gone all out to imbue a lounge aesthetic in the Vision V concept’s second row, offering a massive amount of space for two occupants, white Nappa leather upholstery, fully reclinable airline-style seats and loads of ambient lighting.
Other goodies include a 65-inch 4K retractable cinema screen that can run games and karaoke and also acts as a partition, a 42-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, smart glass for the rear window that can shift between transparent and opaque, a centre console touchpad for infotainment control, a fold-out table that can convert into a chessboard with glass pawns, and lots of transparent storage spaces in the doors.

Platform supports up to 500km range

While Mercedes-Benz hasn’t disclosed any mechanical details about the Vision V concept, its underlying VAN.EA architecture provides some clues about what the production-spec vehicle may offer. The 800V platform supports front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive layouts, with range capabilities extending up to a claimed 500km on a single charge.

First VAN.EA-based all-electric MPV to break cover next year

The first Mercedes-Benz MPV to leverage the VAN.EA platform, possibly the next-gen V-Class, will debut in 2026. More such models, ranging from practical family-oriented MPVs to luxurious limo vans, are also in development. The latter will rival the likes of the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM.
