With Auto Expo 2023 just a week away, we are getting more details on what each automotive brand is going to showcase at the event. We already reported to you that MG Motor’s halo model at the show will be the MG4 electric hatchback. Now, we have also learnt that the company will be showcasing a new concept previewing the Air City EV along with the MG6 sedan and MG5 electric estate. Additionally, MG will also announce prices for the midlife facelifts of the Hector and Hector Plus at the upcoming motor show.

    MG Air EV concept

MG’s most important model at the motor show will be the two-door Air EV that the company will preview in a concept guise. MG was originally expected showcase the production-spec Air EV at the Auto Expo, but a close-to-production concept is what we will get to see. MG is expected to follow up with the prices in the first quarter of 2023. Measuring just 2.9 metres in length, it will be positioned as a tech-laden, urban commuter at the more affordable end of the EV spectrum, but will cater to a niche audience. The Air EV is expected to have 200-250km range on a single charge.

    MG6 sedan

The MG6 is a Skoda Octavia-sized sedan that’s offered in Middle Eastern and South Asian countries. It’s underpinned by a platform from parent company SAIC and is offered with a sole powertrain option – a 169hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The MG6 carries the same exterior and interior design language that was seen on the pre-facelift ZS EV in India. In typical MG fashion, the MG6 is a well-equipped sedan and is known to be a value for money offering.

Notably, there’s also a newer version of the MG6 with a new design language and a plug-in hybrid powertrain that’s sold in China. However, that version is unlikely to be showcased at the Auto Expo. We have also driven the MG6 before, which you can read here

    MG5 electric estate

The MG5 is a Carens-sized electric estate that’s on sale in markets like the UK and Europe. It comes with a 61kWh battery that offers a claimed range of 402km and is powered by a 156hp electric motor. The 5-seater estate is known for its practicality and easy driving manners. Although the MG5 lacks some flash in terms of styling as far as EVs are concerned, it's loaded with tech and features, including ADAS, and also has a large-sized boot.

Interestingly, the MG5 moniker is used for a completely different model in Asian markets such as China and Thailand where it’s a midsize sedan powered by pure-ICE powertrains. However, the one on display at the Auto Expo will be the all-electric estate.

MG Hector and Hector Plus price announcement

The facelifted versions of the Hector and Hector Plus are due for quite some time now, and MG will be announcing prices for both SUVs at the upcoming motor show. Both SUVs will get a comprehensive cosmetic makeover along with a completely overhauled interior with a new 14-inch vertical touchscreen – the largest among any mass-market car in India. Both SUVs, however, will remain mechanically unchanged.

The company is also expected to showcase some of its classic British icons, tech demonstration including its hydrogen fuel cell technology as well as experience centres.
