MG Motor India is readying a major India product overhaul that includes multiple new models and updates to the existing range. The brand will bring the heavily updated Gloster to India this year and the MG Cloud EV is also expected to come to our shores. Fresh patent images have surfaced online hinting at MG's parent, SAIC, readying the Bingo EV for an India launch as a potential Tiago EV rival.

  1. Bingo shares platform with Comet, Cloud EV
  2. Gets two battery options abroad
  3. Is slightly bigger than the Tiago EV

MG Bingo: design and equipment highlights

The Bingo hatchback first made its debut in China and is also on sale in markets like Indonesia. Unlike the Comet, the Bingo is a proper five-door hatchback with a lot of curved surfaces and quirky elements, but the interior is quite familiar as the Bingo shares a few bits with the Comet. These include the dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation duties, the steering wheel and other control buttons and stalks. It also has subtle chrome touches and soft bits on the inside, which makes the car look more premium than it actually is.

MG Bingo: platform, powertrain, dimensions

As far as the platform goes, it shares the same GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) born-EV platform with the Comet and the upcoming Cloud EV. The Bingo is slightly bigger than the Tiago, measuring 3,950mm in length, and thanks to its born-EV platform, it has an edge in terms of cabin room, including a flat floor.

The Bingo in its entry-level avatar gets a 17.3kWh battery and a 41hp motor. This variant has around 203km range on China's CLTC cycle. The top-spec Bingo gets a larger 31.9kWh battery and a 68hp motor good for 333km (CLTC) of range. In contrast, the lower-spec Tiago EV gets a 19.2kWh battery with an MIDC range of 250km and a 61hp motor. The long-range versions have a 24kWh pack that has a range of 315km (MIDC), powering a 75hp motor.

MG Bingo: India launch details

As reported earlier, MG Motor India has its hands full with the upcoming market launches of the updated Gloster and the Cloud EV. While both models will go on sale in India this year, the brand has also lined-up multiple special editions, which include the "Blackstorm" and upcoming "Desert Storm" range. As for the Bingo, we expect this hatchback to come to India sometime next year.
