Jeep offers the updated Compass in five trims – Sport, Longitude, Longitude+, Limited and Model S. The Sport trim continues to be the entry-spec model and is offered only with the diesel-manual powertrain. The manual variant also sees a drop in price; it now costs Rs 20.49 lakh. Next up is the new Longitude trim that gets a manual and a 9-speed automatic gearbox, making this the new entry-point to the Compass automatic range. The diesel automatic has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.2kpl.

The updated Compass Longitude O2 trim starts at Rs 24.49 lakh and it comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof and a wireless charger, in addition to all the features available on the Longitude trim. Up next is the Jeep Compass Limited, which comes with a new Black Shark edition that gets an all-black interior, black alloy wheels and 'Ignite Red' highlights throughout the SUV. The Blackshark starts at Rs 26.49 lakh and the Limited variants start at Rs 25.99 lakh.

Completing the Compass line-up is the top-spec Model S, which is also available with a new 2WD automatic powertrain, alongside the existing 4WD automatic variants. Additionally, all trims feature a refreshed design for the alloy wheels, while the new chrome grille is available only on the Limited and Model S trims, which starts at Rs 27.99 lakh.

Jeep Compass diesel engine and gearbox

The Jeep Compass with the automatic gearbox was previously limited to just the 4x4 variants. With this launch, Jeep aims to target customers looking for the convenience of an automatic gearbox, but not wanting the 4x4 hardware.

Powering the Compass is a 170hp, 350Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine. Jeep currently offers only a diesel engine on the Compass range in India as it shelved the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine due to BS6 Stage II emissions norms. However, as we've reported before, the petrol variants are slated to make a comeback sometime in the near future.
