Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), India’s second largest carmaker, has crossed the five million sales mark in India. A Verna was the five millionth car the Korean carmaker sold in India.

Hyundai sold its millionth car in India back in 2007, built on the success of the Santro, the model that kickstarted the Korean carmaker’s India innings. Notably, the time for every successive million car milestone has shortened with the journey from four million to five million sales taking just two years.

Hyundai has been expanding its product portfolio, and earlier this year YK Koo, MD and CEO, HMIL had disclosed plans to launch eight products (including facelifts and refreshes) by 2020.
