The fourth-generation Nissan Elgrand has been revealed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The Elgrand is a globally available MPV that rivals the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Vellfire and Toyota Alphard. The fourth-generation model is inspired by the carmaker’s Hyper Tourer concept, which was unveiled in 2023.

Heavily inspired by the 2023 Hyper Tourer concept

The fourth-generation Elgrand looks striking, especially because of the pixel-like elements in the fascia that merge seamlessly with the DRL (daytime running lamp) elements, which seem inspired by the Hyper Tourer concept. There’s also a slim light bar that spans the length of the bonnet, under which sit the multi-pod LED headlights and an illuminated Nissan logo.

In profile, the Elgrand features a sliding door for rear passengers and dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels. It gets a full-width tail-light with pixelated lighting elements and the Nissan branding on a gloss-black panel.

Features a more premium cabin filled with new-day amenities

The Elgrand’s interior has been thoroughly redesigned and looks very premium compared to that of the outgoing model, which received a facelift globally in 2020. In addition to a layered dashboard with ambient lighting for added bling, the fourth-generation Elgrand gets a 2-spoke steering wheel and dual 14.3-inch displays that keep the look minimalistic and modern. 

The dashboard-mounted drive selector lever has been replaced with buttons to give the cabin a cleaner look. Nissan has also equipped the new Elgrand with a 22-speaker Bose sound system, dual wireless phone chargers and dedicated displays for second-row passengers. 

The Elgrand continues with three rows of seating, with captain chairs in the second row now updated with electronically actuated extendable leg rest and seat recline functions.

Debuts an updated e-4ORCE 4WD system for Nissan

Nissan has revealed that the Elgrand will be powered by its third-generation e-Power hybrid system, which uses technology similar to that in the globally available Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail. While technical specifications are yet to be revealed, the MPV will get the updated Nissan e-4ORCE electric 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system, which uses an electric motor at the rear axle to enhance stability by reducing vehicle pitching during acceleration or deceleration. Notably, the Elgrand will be the first Nissan car to get this technology. 

Not just this, but Nissan will offer its ProPilot ADAS features to make drives even more relaxing. This suite will enable hands-free driving and lane-change assistance at speeds of up to 50kph.
