BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Black Shadow edition: What's new

BMW says that the special edition 2-series Gran Coupe features the company’s BMW Individual high-gloss shadow line package along with parts from its M Performance catalogue. According to the company, the BMW Black Shadow edition kit is worth Rs 2.5 lakh with buyers of the 24 units of this limited edition version able to avail it at a premium of just Rs 90,000 over the 220d M Sport. The kit will become available as an option on the standard 220d M Sport post the sale of these 24 units at the full price.

The 220d Black Shadow edition gets a new blacked-out mesh-pattern BMW kidney grille, black wing mirror caps, darkened chrome finish for the exhaust pipe finishers, and black-finished boot lip spoiler and 18-inch forged alloy wheels with floating hubcaps from BMW’s M Performance parts.

The 2 Series gran Coupe Black Shadow edition is available in a choice of two exterior colours – Alpine White and Black Sapphire.

Inside, there looks to be little difference to the standard 2 Series Gran Coupe with the same dual tone Sensatec Oyster and Black leather upholstery in use.

Equipment is in-line with the standard 2 Series Gran Coupe with kit such as full-LED headlamps, 12.3-inch digital instrument display, 10.25-inch touchscreen with voice assistant and gesture control, rear view camera, reversing assistant and more. Safety kit on offer includes 6 airbags, ABS, dynamic stability control, traction control, cornering brake control and more.

There is no change under the bonnet with the Black Shadow edition using the same 2.0-litre diesel engine as the regular 220d Gran Coupe putting out 190hp and 400Nm. The unit is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: competition check

Currently as it stands the 2 Series Gran Coupe does not have any direct rivals in the market. The competition will come in the form of the yet-to-be launched all-new Mercedes A-class limousine and the Audi A3.
