Bookings for the Sierra are ongoing for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Tata Motors have amassed over 70,000 confirmed bookings for the new Sierra on the very first day since the company began taking orders on December 16. Tata has also said that an additional 1.35 lakh customers have submitted their preferred configuration, and are waiting to complete pending formalities. As per our dealer sources, over 50 percent of the bookings so far have been for the diesel variants of the Sierra.

  1. Sierra introductory prices range between Rs 11.49-21.29 lakh
  2. Sierra deliveries to begin on January 15, 2026.
  3. Comes with petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engine options

Tata Sierra diesel gets majority of initial bookings

The new Sierra is just one of four models in the midsize SUV segment to offer a diesel engine option, the others being the Creta, Seltos and Tata’s own Curvv. The fact that a majority of the buyers have opted for the diesel variants is evidence that diesel still commands considerable pull among SUV buyers when offered with the option of one. Even for segment-champ Creta, diesel variants continue to be in strong demand, particularly those equipped with the automatic transmission.

Tata Sierra powertrain options

To recap, the Sierra can be had with three engine options, namely a 106hp 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel and a 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. Gearbox options comprise a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT for the NA petrol, a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic for the diesel and a sole 6-speed automatic for the turbo-petrol.

The Sierra is offered in seven trims: Smart Plus, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Adventure Plus, Accomplished and Accomplished Plus. Introductory prices for the Sierra currently range between Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 21.29 lakh (ex-showroom), and deliveries are scheduled to begin from January 15, 2026.
