The Tata Nexon EV has achieved the 1,000 units production milestone. Manufactured at the company’s Pune plant, the Nexon EV is the carmaker’s second all-electric model after the Tigor EV compact sedan.

Speaking on the occasion, Shailesh Chandra, president, Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors said, “Acceptance of EVs is accelerating fast, and we are seeing growing interest in it from all parts of the country. The rollout of the 1,000th Nexon EV in a short time span, despite the challenges of COVID-19, reflects the rising interest of personal segment buyers in EVs. How long did it take to reach the milestone?
Launched in January 2020, the Nexon EV achieved the production milestone in a little over 6 months. Tata Motors also revealed that the positive response to the Nexon EV has helped it achieve a market share of 62 percent in the electric vehicle space in Q1 FY2021.
Tata Nexon EV: A brief recap
Based on the Nexon compact SUV, the Nexon EV is the first Tata car to feature the brand’s Ziptron EV technology. The carmaker had earlier in the year confirmed the launch of four additional all-electric models in the next two years, one of which will be the Altroz EV.
Available in three variants, the Nexon EV pairs an 129hp, 245Nm electric motor to a 30.2kWh battery pack to drive the front wheels. The set-up gives it a claimed range of 312km. We drove the Nexon EV around the time of its launch, and you can read our review here.

What is to come from Tata?
Moving to future models from Tata, the carmaker is set to introduce the production version of its HBX concept-based micro-SUV in the coming months. Also on the cards is the launch of the seven-seat Gravitas SUV and a petrol automatic derivative of the Altroz.
