Kia Carens: A brief timeline

The MPV was Kia’s fourth model for India

The Carens was first introduced to compete with the likes of the Maruti Ertiga and XL6. It offered a diverse range of powertrains, a long equipment list, and offered 6- and 7-seater options. Three years later, in 2025, Kia introduced the updated Carens with a Clavis suffix, which retained the Carens' powertrains, got upmarket looks, and more features. July 2025 saw the launch of the Carens Clavis EV, making it the carmaker's first mass-market EV.

Despite the introduction of the Clavis, Kia continued to sell both MPVs alongside each other. While the Clavis is sold as the more premium offering of the two, the Carens gets limited features and is catered towards budget and fleet buyers. In October 2025, the Carens became the first model in Kia’s line-up to offer a CNG powertrain.

As for price, the Carens ranges between Rs 11.02 lakh and Rs 12.88 lakh, while the Carens Clavis ranges between Rs 11.22 lakh and Rs 21.58 lakh. Meanwhile, the Carens Clavis EV is priced from Rs 11.14 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
