Vida VX2 Expert Review
Vida VX2 What to Expect
8
The Vida VX2 has a clean and appealing design, with the signature Vida headlamp and upper cowl giving it a clear identity without looking polarising. The side and rear panels are more conventional and neatly designed. Quality has also improved, with fewer uneven panel gaps and rough plastics. The new switchgear looks and feels better, making this the best-finished Hero scooter Autocar has seen so far. The removable battery lock, however, remains fiddly.
9
The VX2 has a wide, spacious and comfortable seat. Its 777mm seat height should work well for shorter riders, while taller riders also get enough room without their knees fouling the handlebar. The suspension does a good job of absorbing bumps and potholes, adding to its easy-going nature.
8
The VX2 uses a swingarm-mounted PMSM motor producing 6kW and 25Nm. The Plus has an indicated top speed of 80kph, while the Go is capped at 70kph. Eco mode limits the speed to 45kph and Ride mode to 70kph. Acceleration is not sporty, but performance is more than adequate for city use. The accelerator response is well judged and the riding experience is smooth, with very little regen when the accelerator is closed. Boost mode provides the full performance when needed. The Plus has a claimed 142km IDC range, with Hero claiming 100km in Eco, 75km in Ride and 60km in Sport mode.
8
The VX2 is easy-going and well behaved rather than sporty. Its 12-inch wheels provide good stability, while the tight turning radius makes low-speed U-turns easy. It also feels controlled when cornering at higher speeds. The front disc brake offers enough power without feeling aggressive.
8
The VX2 gets a 4.3-inch TFT display that is simpler than the V2's 7-inch touchscreen but remains easy to use. The graphics and layout are neat, although brightness could be better and the menu animations could be quicker. A five-way joystick controls the screen, while reverse mode and mobile-app connectivity are also available. The Plus gets a 190mm front disc brake.
8
The VX2 is a practical family electric scooter with a clean design, comfortable ride and adequate city performance. Its BaaS pricing lowers the initial cost, although it works out slightly more expensive than buying the scooter outright. Even without BaaS, the VX2 remains a good-looking, practical and pleasant-to-ride family EV.
