Kawasaki Ninja 300 Expert Review

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 continues with its familiar full-faired design, which still looks attractive, especially in the new Lime Green colour. The updated projector halogen headlamp improves illumination, but it cannot match modern LED units. The analogue-digital instrument cluster feels dated, lacking features like a TFT display, ride modes and smartphone connectivity. However, the overall build quality remains good.

The Ninja 300 offers a sporty yet comfortable riding position. The clip-on handlebars and supportive seat make it suitable for moderately long rides, while the new windscreen improves wind protection. Taller riders may find the compact ergonomics and high-set footpegs slightly cramped, but shorter riders will feel more comfortable.

The 296cc parallel-twin engine produces 39hp and 26Nm. It is smooth and refined but needs to be revved hard to deliver its best performance. Low-end acceleration feels relaxed, but the engine becomes exciting as it approaches the 13,000rpm redline. The 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch work flawlessly, although a quickshifter would have been a welcome addition. Fuel efficiency is respectable, returning 27.48kpl in the city and 29.31kpl on the highway.

The Ninja 300 remains stable, predictable and easy to ride. Its balanced chassis inspires confidence, making it enjoyable for everyday riding. However, the suspension feels less refined than newer rivals over broken roads, while the MRF tyres and brakes provide adequate performance rather than class-leading capability.

It remains a good choice for riders who specifically want an affordable twin-cylinder sportbike.
