With the rollout of GST 2.0 rates, Kawasaki has slashed prices of its models that are sub-350cc in displacement. These include the brand’s bestselling bike, the Ninja 300, and a recent returnee, the Versys-X 300.

  1. Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is now priced at Rs 3.49 lakh
  2. Kawasaki Ninja 300 price reduced by Rs 26,000
  3. Bajaj has absorbed the GST impact, so KTMs’ prices are unchanged

Kawasaki Versys-X 300 price cut by Rs 30,000

The 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3.68 lakh

Earlier, the Versys-X 300 was priced at Rs 3.79 lakh, making it more expensive than the top-spec KTM 390 Adventure (Rs 3.68 lakh). The KTM offers a far higher level of equipment – TFT dash, cornering aids, adjustable suspension, LED headlight and tubeless spoke wheels on both ends of its 21/17-inch (F/R) setup.

The Versys-X 300, in contrast, is fairly basic with tubed spoke wheels, a bulb-based headlight and little in the way of modern electronics. What it does have as its USP, however, is a twin-cylinder engine – something generally associated with a smoother, more refined feel that is difficult to replicate with single-cylinder units. That said, much like the KTM’s single, the Versys’s motor is also on the peaky side, no surprise since it is derived from the Ninja 300.

Now, with its price cut to Rs 3.49 lakh, a drop of Rs 30,000, the Kawasaki undercuts the KTM 390 Adventure, which remains at Rs 3.68 lakh.

Similarly, the Ninja 300 also enjoys an advantage over the KTM RC 390, as it is now priced significantly lower. Earlier, it cost Rs 3.43 lakh; now, it retails at Rs 3.17 lakh, a reduction of Rs 26,000. The KTM RC 390 costs Rs 3.22 lakh, making it Rs 5,000 more expensive than the twin-cylinder Ninja 300. The RC 390 remains the only 390 model in KTM’s portfolio to use the older 373cc engine.

Currently, Bajaj has absorbed the GST impact, but the company has not stated how long the prices will hold.
