Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX Expert Review

The Ninja 1100SX looks almost identical to its predecessor, with the only noticeable update being a new black paint scheme with green graphics. Most changes are under the bodywork, including a larger 1,099cc engine, a smoother bidirectional quickshifter, a larger rear brake disc and a USB-C charging port. The overall fit and finish remain premium.

The Ninja 1100SX continues to be an excellent sport tourer with a comfortable riding position suited for long-distance travel. It is equally at home on city commutes and highway rides. However, the wide mirrors can be inconvenient in traffic, and the low ground clearance requires caution over larger speed breakers.

Despite weighing 238kg, the Ninja 1100SX feels composed and confidence-inspiring. Once accustomed to its weight, it handles corners impressively well while remaining comfortable over long distances. It balances sporty performance with touring comfort better than most motorcycles in its class.

The updated Ninja 1100SX gets a smoother bidirectional quickshifter that works even at very low speeds, a larger rear brake disc and a USB-C charging port. These updates improve both convenience and everyday usability.

The Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX remains one of the most complete sport-touring motorcycles available. It combines strong performance, excellent comfort and capable handling into a well-rounded package. While it is no longer the value-for-money option it once was, its unique blend of performance and touring ability still makes it a highly desirable motorcycle. 

The 1,099cc inline-four engine produces 136hp and 113Nm. Although peak power is slightly lower than before, the stronger mid-range makes the bike feel even quicker in everyday riding. Acceleration is effortless, while the smooth power delivery, exciting intake howl and refined inline-four engine make every ride engaging. The taller fifth and sixth gears also improve its touring ability.
