Kawasaki is aiming to revive its litre-class Z supernaked in the form of the new Z1100. Leaked paperwork from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) mentions the supposedly new generation of big Z, which goes by the codename ZR1100HT.

    1. Kawasaki Z1100 will use the same engine as the Ninja 1100 and Versys 1100
    2. To rival the likes of Honda CB1000 Hornet and Suzuki GSX-S1000

    New Kawasaki Z1100 leaked:

Mention of the all-new Z1100 was made in CARB database

The California Air Resources Board regulates the emissions of motorcycles. There were four bikes listed on their database, and the last of them particularly caught our attention. It was codenamed the ZR1100HT, which is similar to the earlier internal name used for the 2003 Z1000: ZR1000-A1. The subsequent model was codenamed ZR1000-A2.

Besides the mention of the ZR1100HT, the document only discloses the tested bike’s inertial mass, which stands at 370kg, and its 1,099cc engine capacity.

Currently, this updated 1,099cc mill produces 136hp and 113Nm and powers the Ninja 1100 and Versys 1100. We expect the new Z1100 to carry the same engine to compete with the likes of Honda CB1000 Hornet and Suzuki GSX-S1000.

Upon its launch, the Z1100 is slated to slot right between the supercharged Z H2 and the Z900 in Kawasaki’s street fighter portfolio.
