BMW R 1300 GS
The BMW R 1300 GS is a full-size adventure motorcycle. It is powered by a 1,300cc boxer twin that produces 145hp and 149Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox with a quickshifter. The engine delivers strong torque, doesn’t grumble even as low as 1,500rpm, and starts building pace at 3,000rpm. While it is well-suited for long-distance touring, the lighter chassis and handling geometry also make it capable of handling rough roads and moderate off-road terrain without much trouble. The BMW has also equipped the R 1300 GS with features like an electronically adjustable windscreen, pro riding modes, and a radar-assisted safety system, depending on the variant chosen.

BMW R 1300 GS expert review
9.0
The BMW R 1300 GS introduces a fresh design while remaining instantly recognizable as a GS. It is sleeker than its predecessor, with the boxer engine still dominating the overall look. Although the new headlamp may divide opinions, the motorcycle looks premium and well-proportioned. Despite the slimmer bodywork, wind protection remains excellent, and the electronically adjustable windscreen keeps the rider well shielded on long journeys.
9.0
The riding position is spacious and comfortable for touring, although BMW has made it slightly sportier by lowering the handlebar and using a firmer seat. While this improves rider engagement, the seat isn't as plush as before, especially for the pillion. The motorcycle also feels taller than the previous model, making it less confidence-inspiring for shorter riders, although the optional Adaptive Ride Height system helps improve accessibility.
9.0
The new boxer engine is smoother, stronger and more responsive than before. It delivers excellent low-end torque, builds speed effortlessly and remains relaxed while cruising at highway speeds. The revised gearbox and improved quickshifter make gear changes smoother, while throttle response feels sharper, giving the motorcycle a livelier character.
10.0
One of the biggest improvements is the handling. The lighter chassis, updated suspension and improved front-end feel make the R 1300 GS noticeably more agile and confidence-inspiring than its predecessor. It remains stable through corners and comfortable over rough roads, although the suspension now provides more feedback from the road surface. Braking performance has also improved with stronger stopping power and better feel.
9.0
The R 1300 GS comes equipped with an easy-to-read TFT display, multiple riding modes and a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids. Depending on the variant, buyers also get features such as an electronically adjustable windscreen, quickshifter, adaptive ride height and radar-assisted safety systems.
9.0
The BMW R 1300 GS successfully evolves the iconic adventure motorcycle with better performance, sharper handling and more advanced technology. While its taller feel and firmer setup may not suit everyone, it remains an exceptionally capable all-rounder that balances touring comfort with a more engaging riding experience.
