A new custom-built bike dubbed the Titan has been unveiled by BMW Motorrad, and it is based on the brand’s latest roadster, the R 1300 R. The Titan is a purpose-built machine focused towards drag and sprint racing and built by a small group of individuals.
- Extended swingarm and chassis elements enhanced with forged carbon
- Exhaust system built in collaboration with Akrapovic
- Includes a NOS bottle between the twin underseat exhausts
The Titan pushes the R 1300 R platform to its limits
Built specifically and strictly as a focused drag weapon
The design of the Titan bears little resemblance to the standard R 1300 R, with large enveloping intake ducts and exposed air filters on either side. The majority of the panels have been replaced with stunning forged carbon, contrasted by a bespoke set of graphics in white and metallic blue accents.

The R 1300 R Titan’s ergonomics are completely different as well, as the bike now comes equipped with low clip-on handlebars and rear-set foot pegs found at the very end of the bike near the rear wheel. The levers are also upgraded to Magura HC3 to ensure precise control over the machine. The TFT display typically found up front has been repositioned to the tank just behind the triple tree. While the wheels remain the same, the bike is now equipped with grippy Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.
The overall proportions of the R 1300 R Titan have also changed. Due to the extended single-sided swingarm and specially designed monocoque chassis manufactured by Wilbers, the bike sits far lower to the ground. Its weight has been shifted significantly over the front wheel as well, with an upgraded lower suspension setup. This hunkered-down stance, much like that of a crouching predator, allows the Titan to be propelled instantly from a stop without lifting its front wheel, claims BMW.

The 1300cc boxer engine remains unchanged internally but has a massive can of nitrous oxide found between the twin exhaust pipes under the seat for an extra boost, not unusual with vehicles built for drag racing. Speaking of the exhaust, long-time collaborators Akrapovic helped design this full titanium exhaust system, which is sure to give the bike a roar to match its aggressive looks and nature.
