BMW is set to launch the R 1300 GS Adventure in India after it revealed the bike internationally last year. The GSA is based on the same platform as the R 1300 GS but gets some distinctly different features and styling cues.

BMW Motorrad launched the R 1300 GS in India last year at a competitive price, undercutting its rivals, at Rs 20.95 lakh, which has now risen to Rs 21.2 lakh after the price hike. We expect the R 1300 GSA to carry a similar premium over the outgoing model, the R 1250 GSA, which costs Rs 22.5 lakh.
The ‘Adventure’ nameplate, in typical BMW fashion, means the R 1300 GSA has a larger 30-litre fuel tank, which is 11 litres more than the regular GS. Because of the larger tank and other changes, the R 1300 GSA tips the scales at 269kg, which means it is 32 kg heavier compared to the standard bike. It is also a kilo heavier than the R 1250 GSA it replaces.
While the larger GSA has gained weight, its output remains the same as the GS. The R 1300 GS Adventure is powered by a liquid-cooled boxer engine, delivering 145hp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. This makes it the most powerful production-ready BMW boxer engine to date. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The R 1300 GS Adventure can be equipped with BMW’s new Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) as an option, essentially eliminating the need to manually shift gears using the clutch. While the motorcycle lacks a clutch lever, it does offer a gear lever for times when the rider wishes to take manual control.
The 2025 R 1300 GS Adventure is offered globally in four variants: Standard, Triple Black, GS Trophy, and Option 719 Karakorum. All variants come equipped with four riding modes – Eco, Rain, Road, and Enduro – as standard.
Additional features include a 6.5-inch TFT display, Dynamic Traction Control, Engine Brake Control, Hill-Hold Assist, and now Radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control. As part of the radar-assisted rider aids, the R 1300 GSA gets features like front collision warning, lane change warning, radar-based adaptive cruise control, and active cruise control.
Upon its launch in India, the R 1300 GSA will compete with the likes of the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT and Rally Explorer, Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally and Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.
