The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has received tubeless spoked rims nearly a year after Royal Enfield launched the bike. These are optional extras and will cost you Rs 11,000, which is superb pricing for an option like this.

  1. Tubeless wheels are optional accessories
  2. Can be fitted to new as well as existing bikes
  3. Himalayan priced between Rs 2.85 lakh and Rs 2.98 lakh

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 finally gets tubeless wheels

At the launch of the Himalayan, Royal Enfield had announced that the ADV would receive tubeless spoke wheels shortly. While these were available on bikes exported from India, bikes sold here didn't get it because BIS certification threw a wrench in the works.

Tubes for the Himalayan’s tyres are also relatively harder to source due to the tyre sizes, which has further increased the complexity of fixing a puncture. This move will surely come as a welcome relief for owners who have been facing problems with fixing punctures and have had to resort to third-party solutions that aren't as effective.

Aside from finally having the option of tubeless wheels, the cost will also be music to the ears for Himalayan owners. The Himalayan’s tubeless rims are by far a very affordable option at Rs 11,000 a pair. To put things in perspective, similiar options from premium manufacturers like Ducati, BMW and Honda cost well over Rs 1 lakh.

Do note, however, that the Rs 11,000 sticker price is only when you equip it on your new bike through the MIY configurator. This changes to Rs 12,424 for all if purchased through a dealership, which can be done from October 3. These tubeless spoked rims aren't compatible with the older Himalayan 411 though.

Overseas, the Kamet White is the only colour to come standard with the tubeless wheels, and it's an optional extra on the others. In India, Royal Enfield sells the tubeless wheels only as optional extras and none of the bikes get it as standard. Currently, the Royal Enfield Himalayan is priced between Rs 2.85 lakh and Rs 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).
