Ducati has brought the ultra-exclusive Panigale V4 Tricolore to India, priced at a staggering Rs 77 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Tricolore comes draped in the colours of the Italian national flag and features numerous exclusive parts as well as finishes over the ‘standard’ Panigale V4.

  1. Limited to 1,000 units globally, ‘very few’ coming to India
  2. Each bike comes with a certificate of authenticity
  3. Bookings are open now

Devil is in the details for the Panigale V4 Tricolore

In terms of its engine and frame, the Panigale V4 Tricolore is identical to the ‘normal’ Panigale V4 in that it employs the same 1,103cc, liquid-cooled, V4 powerhouse making 216hp and 120.9Nm of torque. It also has the same expansive suite of rider aids as the latest Panigale V4. Where things start to differ is in the level of components used to form the rolling chassis and the bespoke, special finishes the Tricolore boasts of.

For instance, the wheels, fenders, chain guard, heel guards, swingarm cover, exhaust guard and alternator cover are all finished in carbon fibre. You’ve also got huge 338.5mm front disc brakes – the largest on any production bike – mated to a Brembo MCS 19.21 master cylinder and top-of-the-line Hypure calipers, bringing this bike to a halt. You’ve also got a dry clutch – for that inimitable Ducati rattle – as well as billet aluminium footpegs that are adjustable. As a result of all these lightweight parts, the Tricolore weighs 188kg (wet, without fuel), which is 3 kilos less than the Panigale V4 S.

It's not just special parts that make the Tricolore stand out, but it's the attention to detail in the small things that will truly seal the deal for a prospective buyer. With production limited to just 1,000 units globally and only ‘very few’ coming to India, the Tricolore is sure to be a rare sight on the road. Each bike will come with a numbered plate on the steering head as well as a certificate of authenticity. The Tricolore’s 6.9-in TFT display also has a bespoke animation upon turning the key, and the key itself bears the number of the bike.

For those who want to ride the Tricolore on track, Ducati will supply as standard a quick-release fuel filler cap (finished in solid aluminum), brake caliper cooling ducts, an open clutch cover in carbon fiber, and blanking plates for the mirrors and the number plate holder. In fact, owners can also optionally choose to have a tailor-made jacket from Ducati, which will match their special steed.

At Rs 77 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Ducati Panigale V4 Tricolore is certainly an indulgence only a few, well-heeled collectors can afford, and considering that very few will come to India, it's unlikely we’ll be seeing one on the road anytime soon. While Rs 77 lakh will actually get you luxury sedans like the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Tricolore is actually not the most expensive Ducati in India today. That is a title that belongs to the brand’s WSBK homologation special, the Panigale V4 R, which commands Rs 85 lakh.
