Bajaj Dominar 400 price hiked by Rs 10,000

Bajaj has increased the price of its flagship motorcycle, the 2019 Dominar 400, by Rs 10,000, pushing the price to Rs 1.90 lakh. This is the second price hike since it was launched earlier this year at Rs 1.74 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

While the first hike of Rs 6,000, which took the price to Rs 1.80 lakh, was expected because the launch price of Rs 1.74 lakh was an introductory offer, the newest increase comes as a surprise. Bajaj hasn’t yet shared the reason for the increase. Despite the Rs 10,000 price hike though, the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 continues to sport a competitive price tag, considering its powerful engine and the equipment levels on offer.

However, at Rs 1.90 lakh, it now sits quite far away from the Yamaha FZ25 (Rs 1.37 lakh) and the Suzuki Gixxer 250 (Rs 1.60 lakh), and is now closer to the Honda CBR250R (Rs 1.95 lakh) and KTM 250 Duke (Rs 1.97 lakh).

To recap, the new Bajaj Dominar 400 is a big improvement over the previous model, with a fair amount of additional kit and performance upgrades. The 373.3cc engine is the same as before but for 2019, it gets a DOHC setup and develops more power, at 39.9hp. The torque, at 35Nm, however, is the same. The bike’s suspension has also received an update and gets a new USD fork and a retuned rear monoshock, among other changes.
