One look at the Rizta tells us that it appears to be a much larger scooter than Ather’s sporty but petite 450. There’s plenty of space for two full-size adults, which doesn’t come as a surprise given that Ather has been teasing the fact that this scooter will have the longest seat in the business. Given the extra size, it will be interesting to see how much heavier this scooter is than the 450, which uses a lightweight aluminium frame; it could see a more cost effective solution here.

  1. Will likely have simpler underpinnings to keeps costs in check
  2. First Ather e-scooter to use rear drum brake
  3. Previously seen with TFT display, could also get LCD dash

Back to the design, the Rizta features a more rounded and practical looking shape that goes with its aspirations of being a ‘family scooter’. We don’t have a clear view of the front end, but the rear still has elements of Ather’s design philosophy, especially in terms of how the panels taper downwards. There is a large grab handle as well as a passenger back rest, but the latter might end up being an accessory.

This is the first time an Ather features a disc at the front and a rear drum, which is another hint at the fact that the Rizta will be relatively more affordable than the 450 line-up.

The Rizta seen here is running 12-inch wheels at both ends with a telescopic front and monoshock rear suspension set up. We know that this scooter will have a completely different chassis to the 450 so as to overcome the space and packaging issues that could not be rectified on the 450 platform. We also know that the Rizta will share the same battery pack as the 450, although it remains to be seen if it will get both packs.

What is unknown at the moment is whether the Rizta will also use the same powertrain options from the 450. From the looks of it, the swingarm visible on the right side is considerably different to the 450, which could mean that this might use a different propulsion setup.

The Rizta appears to be using a large digital display and previous teasers have suggested that it is the TFT from the 450X. However, it is safe to assume that the Rizta will also feature the simpler LCD unit from the Ather 450S, at least in its lower variants. The mirror stalks on the Rizta also seem to be simpler than the ones on the 450 models, although the lenses themselves appear to be the same.

The Ather Rizta will be officially revealed tomorrow along with the price. Keep an eye out on all our social and online channels for more updates.
