Ather is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated family-centric electric scooter – the Rizta – at its Community Day on April 6, and a source close to the project has revealed that the Rizta will have the largest boot in the scooter space - both ICE and EV.

    1. Will use a concealed belt drive like 450 Apex
    2. Appears to be much larger than 450 line-up
    3. Pricing likely to be around TVS iQube ballpark

    Ather Rizta launch, comfort, features

We are given to understand that the Rizta's boot will be substantially larger than any existing scooter, including the River Indie which has a 43-litre underseat storage space. The Rizta is Ather’s long awaited family-oriented electric scooter that has been spotted testing a few times previously. From a previous social media post put up by the company’s CEO, it is clear that the seat is going to be spacious enough to seat both the rider and pillion far more comfortably than the rather cramped 450 range.

While we still don’t know much about the Rizta’s powertrain, we do know that it will use a concealed belt final drive – a feature carried forward from the 450 Apex. It remains to be seen whether Ather’s ‘Magic Twist’ feature – which allows the user to twist the throttle in the opposite direction for regenerative braking – makes its way to the Rizta. Considering that Ather’s products are always brimming with features, it is reasonable to expect the Rizta to follow that same trend.

When the Ather Rizta does launch in India, we expect it to be priced closer to the likes of the TVS iQube range, if not a bit more. Ather will not just be targeting practical e-scooters but also intends to take a slice out of the pie of massively popular ICE scooters like the Honda Activa and the TVS Jupiter.
