Bajaj has just revealed the next-generation Dominar 400 at the ride event, which is currently underway. To read our first ride review, head HERE. The new Dominar has been one of the most awaited motorcycles of the year and a lot of its updates were revealed when the bike was spotted testing over the last few months.

Now that the bike has officially been revealed, we can clearly see what other updates the bike has received. Firstly, the 2019 Dominar now gets a single-cylinder, fuel-injected 373.2cc DOHC engine. The new engine produces considerably more power than the outgoing model. Peak power has gone up from 35hp at 8,000rpm to 40hp at 8,650rpm. Peak torque remains unchanged at 35Nm, but comes in at 7,000rpm – 500rpm higher than on the older bike.

Another significant change is the use of a USD fork similar to the one on the 390 Duke unlike the older bike, which featured a conventional telescopic unit. The new front suspension will play a major role in improving the Dominar’s handling and ride quality. The exhaust has also been updated and now sports a twin-exit end can. The optional dual-channel ABS on the old bike is now standard equipment as per updated mandatory safety norms. The new hardware does come at a cost though – an additional 2kg, to be precise. The 2019 Dominar now weighs 184kg (kerb). Bajaj has also made the Dominar 400 available in a new, bright green colour scheme called Auroral Green.

Tech updates come in the form of an updated instrument cluster. Just like the previous-gen Dominar 400, the new bike sports two displays – a primary, conventionally placed handlebar display, and a secondary display on the tank. That being said, the new Dominar’s secondary display is a more advanced unit that displays gear position, trip meters and more while the primary display now conveys information and warnings in text form.

We don’t have a price yet, but expect the Dominar to cost about Rs 15,000-20,000 more than the outgoing model, which should put it somewhere along the Rs 1.8 lakh mark. This means that the new 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 will still cost less than the KTM 390 Duke (Rs 2.44 lakh) and the TVS Apache RR 310 (Rs 2.23 lakh); and probably even lower than the 250 Duke ABS (Rs 1.93 lakh).

At this price point, despite the substantial expected hike in price, the updated 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 continues to be a strong value proposition within its segment.
