Mahindra has launched the XUV 7XO as the mid-cycle update to the XUV700 ICE flagship, and the changes go beyond a new badge. While the XUV 7XO carries over engine and gearbox options from the XUV700, it brings a revised interior, added technology and a reshuffled feature list across variants. The facelift also brings suspension revisions aimed at improving ride comfort.

In this comparison, we look at how the XUV 7XO stacks up against the XUV700 on price and features, variant by variant, and where it delivers the biggest gains for buyers.

Both the XUV 7XO AX and XUV700 MX start at Rs 13.66 lakh, but the AX diesel costs Rs 83,000 more than the outgoing MX diesel. The XUV 7XO offers the same petrol and diesel engine options as the XUV700, with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol now producing 203hp (3hp more than the XUV700) and 380Nm and the 2.2-litre diesel delivering up to 185hp and 450Nm; the difference lies in standard features and layout.

The 7XO gets a new black, beige and tan interior centred around a triple-screen setup and connected car features right from the base trim. Features such as steering-mounted controls, push-button start, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, drive modes and cruise control, earlier limited to higher trims, are now standard on the base 7XO. In comparison, the XUV700 MX was offered with a 7-inch instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment screen.

At this level, the changes improve everyday usability. The XUV 7XO AX3 adds a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, electrically foldable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), along with a rear wiper and defogger over the base AX. These features were missing on the XUV700 AX5 Select; a rear camera was offered only from AX5 trim onwards.

Pricing differences here are marginal. The AX3 petrol costs Rs 10,000 more than the AX5 Select, while the AX3 diesel undercuts the AX5 Select diesel by Rs 23,000. This makes the AX3 a more rounded option.

The AX5 trim shows how features have been pushed down the range with the facelift. Along with drive modes – which were available only from the AX5 onwards in the outgoing model – the 7XO’s AX5 adds features such as telescopic steering, passive unlock with walk-away lock and front parking sensors. These were earlier seen only on the XUV700’s top-spec AX7L trim. Despite more equipment, the price gap is small – Rs 23,000 for the petrol and just Rs 4,000 for the diesel.

At the AX7 level, the difference comes down to how features are spread across the three AX7 trims. The AX7 itself offers a well-equipped package, while the AX7 Tech builds on it with Level-2 ADAS, along with added audio and comfort features.

Even the standard AX7 adds equipment that was not available on the XUV700’s AX7L trim; these include a boot lamp and a 540-degree camera. The AX7 Tech goes further by adding features such as wireless charging, an electronic parking brake, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and ventilated front seats – earlier offered only on the top-spec XUV700 AX7L.

In terms of pricing, the AX7 of the 7XO costs around Rs 11,000 more than the earlier AX7 trim. The AX7 Tech sits as the most tech-oriented trim within the 7XO range and is priced Rs 2.04 lakh higher than the XUV 7XO AX7.

At the top of the range, the facelift makes its strongest statement. Its AX7L trim adds larger 19-inch alloy wheels, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, ventilated rear seats and a 6-way electrically adjustable co-driver’s seat with powered boss mode. Practical additions such as rear window sunblinds and a rear wireless charger with cooling are also included. These features were missing on the XUV700’s AX7L trim.

The added equipment comes with a higher price. Compared to the XUV700 AX7L, prices are up by Rs 1.59 lakh for the petrol, Rs 1.5 lakh for the diesel and Rs 1.35 lakh for the top-of-the-line diesel AWD variant.

Verdict

More features across the range, same powertrain

Mahindra XUV 7XO price and features compared with XUV700

The XUV 7XO carries forward the XUV700’s engines and core hardware but changes how features are distributed across the range. More equipment is now available on lower trims, making several premium features more accessible, while the top variants build on this with additional luxury features without a large price increase at each step.

The update builds on the XUV700’s already solid package, adding features and a revised interior to bring it up to date for 2026. However, the shift to touch-based HVAC controls and the lack of physical buttons can affect day-to-day usability.

XUV 7XO’s ex-showroom prices are for the first 40,000 deliveries.

XUV700 prices are ex-showroom, India.
