Hero Xoom 125: 2 reasons to buy and 2 not to

The new Xoom 125 offers more performance, better hardware and a more mature design than the Xoom 110. Here are answers to all the questions you might have about the Xoom 125.

1. Sporty and attractive design

The ZX variant adds premium touches like machined alloys and LED indicators.

Compared to the quirkier Xoom 110, the Xoom 125 looks more polished and upmarket. The sharp design is complemented by 14-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels that enhance its stance, while the new headlamp design not only looks aggressive but also performs well during night rides. The ZX variant, in particular, adds premium touches like machined alloys, sequential LED indicators, and additional colour options – all of which give the scooter a strong visual identity.

2. Impressive fuel efficiency

It has a real-world range of over 250km.

The Xoom 125 strikes a good balance between peppy performance and frugality. In our fuel efficiency test, it delivered an impressive average of 56.2kpl, aided by a reasonably effective start-stop system. With a 5-litre tank, that translates to a real-world range of over 250km – more than adequate for everyday commuting.

That said, here are two reasons why the Xoom 125 could let you down.

1. Seat comfort

The Xoom 125’s seat isn’t the most accommodating.

While the riding posture is commuter-friendly, the Xoom 125’s seat isn’t the most accommodating. The wide seat base makes it difficult for shorter riders to flat-foot, while taller riders may find the forward-biased seating position restrictive and uncomfortable over longer stints. Despite good cushioning, the lack of flexibility in seating makes the ergonomics a compromise for both ends of the height spectrum.

2. Wooden brake feel

Braking performance leaves one wanting.

While the stopping power is acceptable, the braking experience falls short – the levers feel stiff and lack feedback, which takes away from the confidence you'd expect from a scooter with sporty intent.
