JSW Motors is gearing up to start its innings as a standalone manufacturer in India with the Combat SUV, slated to debut on December 4. The Combat SUV is derived from the Chery Jetour T2 and will be assembled at the company’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) plant in Maharashtra. Here’s everything you need to know about the JSW Combat SUV.
What powertrain will the JSW Combat get?
A PHEV powertrain with a turbo-petrol engine and two electric motors

The JSW Combat will be offered with a plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) powertrain comprising a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine working with two electric motors powered by an 18.4kWh battery pack. The system has a combined output of 360hp and 610Nm, and it uses a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The Jetour T2 is offered with front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options internationally, but in India, the Combat is expected to be an FWD SUV.
Will the JSW Combat be a capable hardcore off-roader?
A monocoque chassis and FWD setup suggest it won’t be suitable for hardcore off-roading

The JSW Combat will be built on a monocoque chassis, and with a FWD setup, the SUV naturally leans away from being a hardcore off-roader. However, its 205mm ground clearance, 28-degree approach angle and 30-degree departure angle are expected to help it tackle mild off-road sections. We have driven the Jetour T2 but did not get to spend time with it off the roads. A definitive verdict will only come once we get behind the Combat’s wheel for a real-world test.
What is the all-electric range of the JSW Combat?
Expect a claimed electric range of 90km and a combined range of over 1,100km

The 18.4kWh battery on the Chery Jetour T2 offers a claimed all-electric range of 90km (NEDC), and with the 70-litre fuel tank brimmed, the combined claimed range is over 1,100km. The JSW Combat is expected to have similar figures. The battery pack supports up to 50kW DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 30 to 80 percent in 27 minutes. A 6.6kW AC charger takes around 3 hours to charge the battery from 30 to 100 percent.
Which features do you want in Combat?
How many seats will be offered with the JSW Combat?
5 seats will be available
The JSW Combat will be a 5-seater, with two seats at the front and three at the rear. A 7-seat version of the Jetour T2 is available internationally, with an additional third row of seats, but it is unlikely that the India-spec Combat will borrow this configuration.
What community is saying on the Combat?
How different will the JSW Combat be from the Jetour T2?
Spy shots suggest revised exterior lighting; interior design could be the same

While the JSW Combat is yet to be revealed, some spy shots suggest it may get slightly revised headlights and bumpers. JSW Motors will likely replace the ‘Jetour’ lettering at the front with ‘Combat’. The SUV could also get a fresh set of alloy wheels. Other than this, the design is expected to be very similar to the Chery Jetour T2. The vertically oriented LED tail-lights, generous wheel-arch cladding, roof rails with neon green design elements and a luggage box mounted on the boot door are expected to be retained.

A series of JSW Combat’s spy shots have shown a blue-and-white cabin theme and the same design as the Jetour T2 for the dashboard and seats.
Will the JSW Combat be a feature-rich offering?
It’s expected to be feature-loaded, much like the Jetour T2

While details of the JSW Combat are yet to be revealed, the Jetour T2 on which it is based is well-equipped with features. Highlights include a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, powered and ventilated front seats and a 50W wireless phone charger.
On the safety front, it offers 6 airbags, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-climb and hill-descent controls, and a 360-degree camera setup with under-bonnet view.
What cars will the JSW Combat rival, and how will it be priced?
Expected to be priced anywhere between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh
It is understood that JSW Motors is keen on offering the Combat at an aggressive price, which could be anywhere between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it will not only be a rival to the Honda ZR-V but is also likely to lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner and MG Majestor.
