Mahindra Racing lauded at Lorenzo Bandini Trophy event`

The 25th edition of the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy was held in Brisighella, Italy, on May 5, 2018. It was a momentous day for Mahindra Racing, as they became the first team from Formula E to be recognised and given this prestigious award.

Mahindra Racing has been part of Formula E since the premiere electric racing series' inception in 2014 and has made steady progress. After learning the basics of racing in the initial few years of the championship, the Indian team had a fabulous run in the 2017 season, during which it registered its first win, while simultaneously racking up 10 podium finishes.

This performance enabled the team to finish the season in third position, overall. The 2018 Lorenzo Bandini Trophy was awarded to the team owing to their relentless progress in Formula E. The trophy was collected by Dilbaugh Gill, the Team Principal and CEO of Mahindra Racing. At the event, the team’s driver, Nick Heidfield also did a few demo laps in the M4 Electro racing car from last season.

Lorenzo Bandini was an Italian driver who raced in Formula 1 between 1961 and 1967. He was also a renowned endurance driver. Sadly, he passed away in a tragic accident while competing in the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix. The Lorenzo Bandini Trophy was established in 1992 by the racer’s hometown of Brisighella, to be awarded each year for a commendable performance in motorsport.
