Mahindra Racing ended the 2016-17 Formula E season with a podium finish, with Felix Rosenqvist grabbing second place at the season finale in Montreal. His teammate Nick Heidfeld followed in fifth place to lock down third in the Teams’ Championship.

The double-header weekend in Montreal didn’t start off well for the team. In the first race, Rosenqvist earned a solitary point for 10th, while Heidfeld’s challenge for points ended after a clash with Loïc Duval.

However, a turn of fortune saw Rosenqvist clinch pole for the second race. He controlled the field for nearly 30 laps but an early pit stop meant he had to lap longer in his second car and was eventually passed by Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne. For Heidfeld, qualifying on the second row in fourth position was a vast improvement on Saturday’s race and he was able to convert that into a fifth-place finish, contributing to the teams’ overall championship standing.

Rosenqvist delivered five podiums, including a maiden victory, this season to secure third place in the Drivers’ Championship as well.

Third place in the teams’ standings along 10 podium finishes and a race win in Berlin make the 2016-17 Formula E season the best yet for the Indian squad, which finished the previous 2015-16 Formula E championship in fifth.

“Thank you everyone who has been part of our team, supported and followed us this season. The Mahindra Racing team has done an incredible job to deliver the best-ever results, secure third in the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships and make us the most improved team in the paddock. It’s because of their hard work that we have come this far!” commented Dilbagh Gill, team principal, Mahindra Racing Formula E Team.
