The 2025 JK Tyre National Racing Championship kicked off, with Round 1 held at Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway on August 8-10. Bhuvan Bonu and Anish Shetty dominated, taking a clean sweep in the Novice Cup and Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup categories, respectively.
The round also hosted an early shakedown of the Levitas Cup, a new single-seater series featuring race-prepped Maruti Ignis cars. The opening round for this will be held next month. The LGB Formula 4 category was notably absent; races for this will be held as part of the 2025 Indian Racing Festival, which gets underway this weekend.

Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup
The grid for the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup is divided into two groups, professional and amateur, based on the participants’ skill set and eligibility. Anish Shetty aced racing in the mixed weather conditions and won all three races in the professional category. He currently leads the standings with 30 points. Kayan Zubin Patel, who finished on the podium twice over the weekend, is second overall with 19 points.
In the amateur class, Bryan Nicholas defeated Johring Warisa in all three races to take the championship lead.

Fifteen-year-old Bhuvan Bonu dominated in the Novice Cup, winning all three races with a significant lead. Team DTS Racing’s Ojas Surve and Parthik Ashok scored a pair of podium finishes. The championship will return to Kari Motor Speedway for Round 2 on September 26-28.
