The EX90 is the electric counterpart to the combustion-powered XC90, and thus shares a similar design. However, it sits above the XC90 as Volvo's new flagship SUV while also bringing a quieter and more refined driving experience with much stronger overall performance.
 

The upcoming Volvo EX90 sits somewhere in between its German rivals. It isn't as loaded with rear-seat luxury features as the EQS SUV, nor as powerful or focused on driver engagement as the iX. However, the EX90 is expected to offer a strong balance between ride comfort, performance and overall cabin refinement. Its relatively understated design would suit those who want minimalist luxury over outright showiness.
 

The EX90's air suspension, excellent cabin insulation & refinement and comfort-oriented captain seats in the second row are likely to make this electric SUV very well suited to be driven around in. On the other hand, the Volvo EX90 misses out on expected powered and climate-controlled second-row seats and rear sunblinds – all of which its closest rivals offer.
 

Our in-depth review of the Volvo EX90 found an over-reliance on the touchscreen for even basic functions like mirror adjustment. We also noted the fiddly key-card system in place of a traditional keyfob, an inconsistent brake pedal feel because of the regenerative braking system, and the absence of rear window sunblinds despite still featuring a large (albeit electronically dimming) panoramic roof.
 

The upcoming Volvo EX90 is expected to be priced between Rs 1.40 crore and Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom). This puts it roughly in line with the BMW iX, which is sold in a single trim at Rs 1.40 crore. On the other hand, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV in its base 450 4Matic trim starts at Rs 1.33 crore, with the range-topping Maybach version coming in at Rs 2.40 crore.
