The Volvo ES90 is an all-electric luxury sedan based on the Swedish brand’s SPA2 platform and uses an 800V electrical architecture. It is expected to come to India with a 106kWh battery and dual-motor AWD, producing 456hp and 670Nm, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 696km.
Volvo ES90: Exterior Design and Engineering
The ES90 combines sedan proportions with a fastback-style roofline, while sharing several design elements with the EX90. It gets Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, a closed-off front end, C-shaped rear lights and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. The ES90 has a drag coefficient of 0.25, making it the most aerodynamic Volvo to date. Wheel sizes range from 20 to 22 inches globally.

The ES90 is equipped with a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen with Google-based software, 5G connectivity and over-the-air updates. Other features include a 9-inch digital driver’s display, 13.2-inch head-up display, panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control, wireless charging, 360-degree camera and a Bose audio system. The global model also gets Level 3 ADAS, with seven cameras, five radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a LiDAR sensor.

The ES90 is a five-seater and has a 424-litre boot, which expands to 733 litres with the rear seats folded. It also gets a 27-litre front storage compartment. The cabin follows Volvo’s minimalist design approach, with a floating centre console and a large portrait touchscreen taking centre stage.

The ES90 is rated for up to 696km of WLTP range in its 106kWh versions. It supports DC charging at up to 350kW, with Volvo claiming a 10-80 percent charge in around 22 minutes. A 300km range top-up can be achieved in about 10 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
