The Aeris price starts at Rs 5.30 lakh for the base model, the Smart Petrol MT, and goes up to Rs 9.75 lakh for the top model, the Accomplished CNG AMT (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Tata Aeris on road price in Dantewada, ranges from Rs 5.86 lakh to Rs 10.78 lakh.

If you are planning to finance this car, a loan of Rs 5,30,000 on the base Smart Petrol MT means an EMI of Rs 8,527 a month. Stepping up to the top Accomplished CNG AMT raises that to Rs 15,606 on a loan of Rs 9,70,000.

Why do prices change from the base model to the top model?

• Trim level: This is the main reason. Each step up the range adds more features, and that is what you pay for. The base Smart has no touchscreen, speakers or rear camera, which is why it costs the least. The top Accomplished gets ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a wireless charger and dashcam recording, so it sits at the top of the price list.
• Gearbox: The AMT costs around Rs 55,000 more than the manual on the same trim. You pay extra for not having to use a clutch in traffic.
• Fuel: The CNG version costs around Rs 1 lakh more than the petrol version of the same trim. You pay extra for the factory-fitted CNG kit, and it should also cost less to run day to day.
