BMW has had an action-packed year in India in 2025 with several launches, such as the iX1 LWB, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe and the all-new X3. The German carmaker will be looking to maintain this momentum in 2026, and for that, it is expected to bring updates for a couple of its existing models – the iX SUV and the i5 sedan. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect from both.

BMW iX facelift

Launch: Q2 2026; estimated price: Rs 1.5 crore; battery: 94.8-109.1kWh

Upcoming BMW launches in India in 2026

The updated BMW iX brings subtle styling tweaks and major powertrain gains. The global line-up now comprises the iX 45, 60 and M70, all with dual-motor AWD and larger batteries. The 45 makes 402hp and 700Nm from a new 94.8kWh pack, the 60 steps up to 536hp and 765Nm with a 109.1kWh battery, and the M70 delivers 659hp and up to 1,100Nm from a 108.9kWh unit. Claimed ranges stand at 602km, 701km and 600km, respectively, on the WLTP cycle. Exterior changes include new headlamps, a redesigned grille, revised bumpers and new alloy wheel options, while inside, the facelift introduces a new three-spoke steering and BMW’s M Multi-function seats with better support.

BMW i5 LWB

Launch: Q2 2026; estimated price: Rs 1 crore; battery: 97kWh

Upcoming BMW launches in India in 2026 China-spec BMW i5 eDrive35L used for representation purposes.

BMW will expand the i5 line-up with an LWB model, which will be assembled in Chennai, making it BMW’s first all-electric sedan to be built in India. Based on the China-spec model, it will sit above the petrol 530Li and below the sportier i5 M60. India is expected to get the eDrive40L, which uses a rear-mounted motor developing 340hp and 430Nm, paired with a 97kWh battery. In China, it’s rated for up to 713km on the CLTC cycle, though real-world figures in India will be lower. For our market, BMW is reworking the i5 LWB with a focus on improved ground clearance. The brand is hoping the long-wheelbase EV can mirror the success of the i7, which already accounts for half of all 7 Series sales in India.
