The Tesla Model Y India price has finally been announced, alongside the opening of the first Tesla India showroom in Mumbai. With that, the brand has opened orders for the electric crossover and launched a configurator on its website, allowing buyers to specify their car before purchase, and this includes Tesla Model Y colours and optional extras.

The Tesla Model Y is available in six colours, although just one – Stealth Grey – is standard, while the rest are cost options. For Rs 95,000, you can have Pearl White Multi-coat or Diamond Black, while Rs 1,25,000 gets you Glacier Blue paint. The final two options – Quicksilver and Ultra Red – will cost you Rs 1,85,000 each.
However, that’s not the only colour choice you can make. The interior is all-black as standard, but you can specify an optional black-and-white interior for a cost of Rs 95,000.
Tesla Model Y optional features
‘Autopilot’ self-driving feature available as an option
The Tesla Model Y comes with only one optional feature, and that is full self-driving. Available and legal in some international markets, the feature gives the vehicle nearly full autonomous driving capability with minimal driver intervention. This optional feature will cost Rs 6 lakh.
An evolution of the ADAS features available in many cars in India, it remains to be seen how usable it will be in Indian conditions. The Tesla India website states that the full capability will be made available ‘in future updates’, and that the currently available capabilities ‘require active driver supervision’. It also notes that the activation of further features is dependent on achieving regulatory approval.
Tesla Model Y price in India and payment options
The Tesla Model Y can be ordered via the brand’s India website for a non-refundable deposit of Rs 22,220 paid immediately, followed by Rs 3 lakh paid within 7 days. The website has facilities to pay the deposit via card or even UPI. The Tesla Model Y is available in two variants – Rear-wheel Drive (Rs 59,89,000) and Long Range Rear-wheel Drive (Rs 67,89,000) – with both prices being ex-showroom, India. State-wise on-road prices are available on the website as well.
