Nissan Kicks launched at Rs 9.55 lakh

Nissan has finally announced prices for its new Kicks SUV. Priced from Rs 9.55 lakh to Rs 14.65 lakh, the Kicks is Nissan’s answer to the likes of the Hyundai Creta (Rs 9.60-15.64 lakh) and the Renault Captur (Rs 9.99-13.25 lakh). There's also a subscription package for those who don't want to outright buy the Nissan Kicks, for a price of Rs 11 per kilometer.

On sale in four trim levels – XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium + – even the base variant gets features such as a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, LED DRLs, power windows, power-adjustable wing mirrors with integrated turn indicators, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a Bluetooth, USB and Aux-enabled audio system with four speakers. The top-spec XV Premim + is specced with a segment-first 360-degree camera, along with kit like an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a telematics-enabled smartwatch, steering-mounted controls, an optional contrast finish for the roof, LED headlamps, leatherette upholstery, cruise control, push-button start and automatic headlamps and wipers. Safety kit on all variants includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear defogger, rear parking sensors while the range-topping variant adds two more airbags, hill-start assist and rear fog lamps.

All variants also get seven exterior paint options, though only the XV Premium + has dual-tone paint schemes as an extra.

Based on an updated version of Renault-Nissan’s M0 platform – which the India-spec Kicks shares with a number of models in India - the Nissan SUV for our market is larger and roomier on the inside than its international counterpart.

The powertrain options on offer are also shared with the likes of the Renault Captur – a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 106hp and 142Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel motor that produces 110hp and 240Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual as standard while the diesel comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. ARAI-rated fuel efficiency figures are as follows: 14.23kpl for the petrol-MT, 20.45kpl for the base diesel-MT and 19.39kpl for the higher-spec diesel variants.

In terms of its price, the Kicks seems to priced competitively against its rivals. Only time will tell if this attractive pricing will reflect in the model’s sales.
