The popular Toyota Vellfire MPV will soon see a full model change. First pictures of the new Toyota Vellfire have surfaced online showing the MPV in full production-spec avatar at one of Toyota's plants in Japan. While a global debut is expected to take place in a few days, an India launch for the new Toyota Vellfire is not expected anytime soon.

    3. Will come with multiple petrol-hybrid powertrain options

New Toyota Vellfire: what do the spy shots reveal?

As far as styling goes, the new Vellfire seems to have taken up from where the previous model had left off. The overall profile of the MPV is unmistakably Vellfire, however, look closer and you will notice a lot of design differences. First up, the glasshouse on the side is now a single unit neatly merging with the large front quarter glass and does not get a prominent divider aft of the driver’s door. The pillars are also blackened with a chrome outline giving the MPV a more premium look.

The new Vellfire is based on the second-gen Lexus LM MPV that made its debut recently, however, almost all the body panels seem to be unique. Being the upmarket version of the Alphard, the Vellfire gets much more chrome treatment than its lesser sibling.

There is a humongous six-slat grille that takes up most of the front of the MPV, including some parts of the bumper. A large Toyota logo takes centre stage on the grille, while the headlamps flanked on each side of the grille are placed in two layers, with the bottom one being a bit longer than the top and housing the main projector headlamp set-up.

The bottom half of the front of the Vellfire gets a prominent connected chrome strip that starts vertically below the headlamp on one side and connects to the other forming a U-shaped pattern. At the back, the MPV gets a very familiar-looking, V-shaped tail-lamp enclosure with adequate chrome bits, prominent Vellfire badging, and a big Toyota logo at the centre.

At the top, a large spoiler is placed that houses the third stop lamp and gets a chrome border. The U-patterned chrome surround continues at the back as well starting vertically on one side and connecting to the other.

While there are no pictures of the interior out at the moment, it will be safe to expect the Vellfire to continue with multiple well-equipped variants and seating options, including the executive lounge package that is also available in the Indian market.

New Toyota Vellfire: likely to share Lexus LM’s powertrain

While powertrain details are not out yet, we expect the next-gen Toyota Vellfire to mimic the ones available on the new Lexus LM that also shares its TNGA-K platform. Expect the new Vellfire to come with multiple power outputs for its 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine, depending the on market.
