After a noticeable absence from Mini India’s line-up since 2023, the beloved Mini Convertible is all set to make a stylish comeback. This return is timed to coincide with the launch of several John Cooper Works (JCW) models, injecting fresh excitement into Mini’s performance-oriented offerings.

Performance-wise, the convertible doesn’t stray far from its hardtop sibling. It’s expected to be offered in the same Cooper S trim, featuring a lively 204hp, 300Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the car promises brisk acceleration and engaging dynamics. Mini claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 6.9 seconds – just a shade slower than the hardtop’s 6.6 seconds. This slight difference is attributed to the additional structural bracing required for the convertible’s chassis, which adds a bit of weight to enhance rigidity and safety.

Design-wise, the Mini Convertible retains the brand’s iconic styling cues: the clamshell bonnet, circular headlamps, a new version of the iconic grille and, of course, compact proportions. All the information is shifted to the 9.4-inch OLED centre touchscreen. This Android-based screen is the cabin’s highlight, and the screen is high in resolution and seamless and quick to use. Mini has also used sustainable materials on the dashboard, door cards and seats.
