After a noticeable absence from Mini India’s line-up since 2023, the beloved Mini Convertible is all set to make a stylish comeback. This return is timed to coincide with the launch of several John Cooper Works (JCW) models, injecting fresh excitement into Mini’s performance-oriented offerings.

The Mini Convertible gets an electric canvas roof that opens or closes in just 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds of up to 30kph. This feature adds a layer of convenience and spontaneity, allowing drivers to embrace open-air motoring at a moment’s notice.

2025 Mini Convertible engine and performance

Mini claims a 0-100kph time of 6.9 seconds for the Convertible Cooper S.

Performance-wise, the convertible doesn’t stray far from its hardtop sibling. It’s expected to be offered in the same Cooper S trim, featuring a lively 204hp, 300Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the car promises brisk acceleration and engaging dynamics. Mini claims a 0-100kph sprint time of 6.9 seconds – just a shade slower than the hardtop’s 6.6 seconds. This slight difference is attributed to the additional structural bracing required for the convertible’s chassis, which adds a bit of weight to enhance rigidity and safety.

2025 Mini Convertible exterior and interior features

Is quite similar to the Cooper S hatchback on the inside and outside.

Design-wise, the Mini Convertible retains the brand’s iconic styling cues: the clamshell bonnet, circular headlamps, a new version of the iconic grille and, of course, compact proportions. It’s not just that, the design of the Mini is near timeless, and that means it will still look good even a decade from now. Adding the charm and sophistication of the drop top makes it a head-turner wherever it goes. Inside, Mini shifted the instrument cluster to the centre, giving the dashboard a clean look. All the information is shifted to the 9.4-inch OLED centre touchscreen. This Android-based screen is the cabin’s highlight, and the screen is high in resolution and seamless and quick to use. Mini has also used sustainable materials on the dashboard, door cards and seats.

2025 Mini Convertible India price estimate

Ex-showroom price is likely to be around the Rs 50 lakh mark.

The convertible is expected to hit Indian showrooms around the festive season, a time when car buyers are particularly enthusiastic. Pricing is likely to hover around the Rs 50 lakh mark. Despite its premium positioning, the Mini Convertible is poised to tick a lot of boxes. It’s fast, fun to drive, carries timeless appeal thanks to its ageless design, and is easy to drive in traffic and park.
