New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R variants explained

Available in seven trims, the new Wagon R gets more safety kit and more creature comforts than the outgoing model.

Newly received details of Maruti Suzuki’s new Wagon R, show that the rival to the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and Datsun Go will be better-equipped – variant for variant. The new tall-boy hatchback has been comprehensively updated – a new more powerful engine option, more equipment and safety features – and comes with seven variants to choose from.

Here’s a look at the variants on offer:

Wagon R LXi

Maruti Suzuki’s new Wagon R is expected to be a much stronger rival now. The new tall-boy hatchback nearly matches the Tata Tiago in terms of outright power, thanks to the new 83hp, 1.2-litre engine, and is as well-specced as rivals, including the Datsun Go and Hyundai Santro.

While prices will be revealed on January 23, 2019, expect the new Wagon R to carry a Rs 4.5-6.5 lakh price tag at launch.
